This car caught my eye, im curious to know what you guys think its worth. I am seriously considering upgrading to this beast. Its a 2001, here is the text from the ad

audi S8, not an A8. 159k miles. Fully loaded, power everything, 2 ply reinforced glass, timing belt, waterbump, seals, pullys, plugs and tensioners replaced mid june, tan leather, telescomping wheel, paddle shifters, original car phone, clean title, navigation, suede, rear auto shade, manual rear door shades, all are heated power seats, no leaks. The only option missing is a solar panel sunroof. Comes with 2 sets of wheels, 20 inch (on car) and 19 inch windmills. Only a handfull were imported. Rare. Willing to trade for a hemi Magnum, Charger, A6 2.7t/Turbo 6 speed (stick). No tirekickers please

What separates the S8 from the A8? Is it a tuned V8, or just the basic 4.2 Audi V8? Are there any unique problems that these old S8/A8s have, or just the normal Audi issues? Soo, what would this thing be worth??

D2 S8/A8s are hit or miss with transmission problems. With that mileage on the car, I would buy for 8500. If it doesn't have the recaro seats than I would pass. S8 is a good car, comfortable yet sporty suspension, 4 pot brembos.

Doubt I can afford it, but how much are you selling your car for?

What is meant by Recaro seating?

Technically most of the factory seats are "Recaros" as they are made by Recaro for Audi. Is it the sport seats your talking about? If it is i think all S8's had them, it's one of the nice things about the S8.

Well, basically everyone refers to the sport seats in S8's as "Recaros"...no matter who makes the comfort seats.

D2 S8's did indeed have a no-cost option of comfort seats...I've seen several for sale fitted with em. Unfortunately, the comfort seats offered in D2 S8's (01-03) were prefacelift A8 (97-99) standard seats, instead of the MUCH nicer facelift (00-03) A8 seats.
I think Audi was just unloading old stock on those asking for that "option", assuming they'd think it was a "special" version comfort seat not found in the same years A8's.

Example with prefacelift comfort seats from the factory >>>
