Windshield wiper replacement, brands and how to?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I went to walmart today and tried to replace my wipers, i looked at the wipers chart and b7 audi is not in the list. Does the windshield wiper supposed to be bought or replaced at the dealership or is there a way to diy it? If so does anyone know the size and how to take it off?

I just replaced mine for the first time a couple weeks ago. It's very simple. There's a sliding piece on the blade that locks into place around a bar on the arm. Slide to unlock, remove, put the new one on, slide to lock.

Definitely simple...although my passenger side seems to require A-Team strength to unlock the old and lock in the new. I confess to contributing toward the Parts Manager's boat payment...the day after I bought my car, I picked up an OEM set. The wallet still stings a little, but I have to say they work well. Around here these days I get soupy morning fog, followed by afternoon pollen build-up. The wipers - front and rear - do a good job of keeping things clean and free of streaks. Nonetheless, I think my next purchase will involve the aftermarket.

I like the Aero set from Europa the best.

I was disappointed with the Bosch.

I liked them with snow and rain.

The cap (1 1/2" long plastic part) slides toward the end of the wiper, not toward the wiper arm. It might be hard to slide since it is stuck in dirt. Once it's is slided, just pull up the wiper arm, nothing hold's it. The wiper arm have a kinda keystone shape metal part that sit on the wiper blade. Really easy.

I recommend against the Valeo wipers. They don't fit the contour of the windshield properly and leave a 2-3" swath uncleared. Quite surprising considering how proudly Valeo boasts about the "even pressure distribution".

Bosch OEMs cost about the same and actually wipe the windshield. Amazing!

Amazon is running a special right now, 2 for $20 on the Valeo wiper blades.

I use Valeo as well. I haven't experienced any problems with it so far.

My experience with Valeo's on my B7 wasn't so good. They left streaks when they were new, and who knows how long they'd have lasted.

The best wipers I've ever used thus far were Bosch's on my Pontiac G6. Quiet, excellent wipe, and they lasted at least 3 years in Arizona's harsh sun.

I'll definitely buy a set of Bosch's when the B8 needs new blades.

My last set were Bosch and I agree with you they are top notch, however I can't justify spending more money on wipers that get used 2-3 a year with our average rainfall of something like 3" annually. Just doesn't make sense lol. I'll be happy if these last me a year or two, as I can't really complain, the wipers I currently have on were on there when I bought the car last June and they definitely beyond used even at that point.

If these are crap well they'll be on there til next year at least because I hardly even use them to clean my window. That's why I always keep a can of glass spray and towels in the trunk. Keep it cleaned up every couple fill up if it hasn't already been done through the car wash.
