    2009 Audi A4 2.0T quattro

I have another question, and rather flooding the forum with another thread, I figure I extend this one.

The same 2009 Audi A4 2.0T quattro used car I am looking in buying has still 6 months left of active factory warranty. My questions is, should I still have my mechanic look at it or I am worrying too much? Also, for active warranties, does that mean I can bring my car to an authorized Audi dealer to inspect it anytime with no charge?

    Thanks.

    ************Old post*********************

    Hi everyone,

I am planning to buy a used 2009 Audi A4 2.0T quattro, and I noticed that this particular car does not have the LED headlights that I see from other 2009 models. Like this car:

Can someone explain why? And should this impact the price a lot since it is missing it?

I do not know much about car knowledge and I hope that will change from this board.

    Thanks!

That means it is the Premium trim. Whereas the Premium Plus and Prestige trims automatically come with the LEDs in the headlights. Premium also means the headlights are not auto on/off. Premium comes standard with 1-cd changer, versus 6-cd changer. AMI (Audi Music Interface) is an added option for Premium, versus standard for P+ and Prestige. Lastly, Premium means it is a 1-zone climate control versus 3-zone. I'm sure there are some other differences, but those are the main ones I can remember.

Premium vs Premium Plus in MSRP is about ~$3,250 difference in price if I remember correctly...so when it comes to resale value, I'd say the impact is about $2,000-$2,500 difference.

You should buy my 2009 A4 2.0T! There's an ad in the classifieds :)

Good luck with your purchase and welcome to the B8's!

    Thanks for the quick reply!

Is the Audi adaptive xenon headlights with LED daytime running lights buyable from online?

Your ride is sweet, if you were in NY, I def would buy it =)

ff ... There were three levels of equippage for the 09s. The only level without the xenon headlights, which included the LED DRLs, was the base level, or Premium. That is likely the level of equipment for the car you're considering.
The next level, Premium plus, included the xenon/LED setup, and other features as well. As I recall, the Prem Plus package ran about 4k more than the base Premium level.

You might try Vehix, which has some archival info for the 09s. I think you may be able to build the car you're looking at to determine what it cost new, so that you can better determine a good price now, given its features, condition, and mileage.

Also check service history. Among issues associated with the 09's were low speed shudder, high speed shudder, camshaft, and intake manifold. Best of luck. It is a fine car.

    eirebob,

Thanks for the reply. Yeah the carfax mentioned a recall for the camshafts. I'm not sure if is for my particular car but do you know any info regarding it? is it a really bad issue?

^^ Yeah that's literally what I just said! Haha I'm glad we gave him the same info.

But about the headlights...they cost around $1200 each, so I would look into some e-codes! It deletes the amber reflectors that come stock.

i can't say for sure, but you can have a mechanic check just to be safe i guess, if anything major he'll notice it at least, and then you can bring that to Audi's attention when you take in for service. as for no charge, i dont think they do that, they'll prob charge you a diagnostic fee, i know my Land Rover dealer had like a minimum 1 hr labor charge or something to diagnose/inspect something.

i'd recommend just taking it in for one of the service intervals before your warranty is up, like the 35k/45k service, that way you'll be getting the needed service done and and they can also check other things while they service it and find any problems, and then you can have them fix that under warranty, whatever is covered of course.

With respect to the camshaft issue, first orient yourself to the problem on the B8 tech thread "Camshaft RVU". It applies to most early 09's, and it can cause real damage. Contact a dealer to see if the VIN of the vehicle is covered by the campaign. It may already have been done under prior ownership.

As an aside, if you haven't yet decided on a particular vehicle, consider looking for an A4 equipped with the sport package, a great value upgrade for the A4 that just helps make the car what it should be. Having said that, Audi didn't bring many sport pacs over in 09, so it is a hard find. I was very lucky to find mine so equipped when I bought it a little over a year ago.

I just found out the car I am interested in had been sitting in the lot for almost a year. Is that a bad thing? Any thoughts?

Wow. You floored me with this one. Is it a bad thing? Well, it sure doesn't seem like a good one. Does the dealer have an explanation?

There are all manner of red flags swirling about this one.
