    ECS Spacer Review

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Picked up and installed some spacers from ECS i figure i would let you guys know how they are doing so far.

I picked up 20mm for the rear and 17.5mm for the fronts, they are sold by themselves and in kits which include the proper lug bolt needed for the thickness of the spacer

all said and done, it was a pinch over 200$ for bolts and all 4 spacers shipped to my door, which after seeing how much H&R wanted for spacers was a breathe of fresh air.

ECS remarks and it's plastered on thier site that these spacers are only for OEM wheel applications only, I did not investigate, but i assume that OEM is built to a tighter hub bore tolerance than aftermarket??? speculation at this point and i only have expeirence with them on the stockers so i can't give you any details on that.

install was about as difficult i would imagine any spacer job to be, the hub-centric portion of the spacer fit the OEM wheel incredibly tightly, I would recommend putting the spacer on the wheel, then both of them on the car's hub as the spacer fits incredibly tightly on the wheel. I had to spin the spacer in order have it seat flat on the wheel, I really cannot overstate how tight they fit.

anywho, there have been absolutely no vibrations or alignment issues whatsoever which i was pretty skeptical about given all the threads that have come up about this.

i would post pics, but i am embarrassed about the ride height of my car (eibach prokit being installed on the 16th)

H&R spacers are TUV certified and made from a lighter and stronger aluminum/magnesium alloy than regular ole' 6061-T6.

this.. for a little more money i'd rather go with H&R. i run the H&R DRA spacers 20f/25f on OEM wheels for winter and I'm picking up some H&R DR 5 or 10mm for my rears for summer wheels.

deff not, all spacers are not considered equal, mx is right....i mean idk so much about a spacer being tuv certified, but as long as they are machined with tight tolerances i can't see things going too badly, in my opinion, H&R are overpriced, but there are ebay spacers that i would not touch with a 10 foot pole

i have had good luck in the past with BFI, and i figured i would give the ECS a shot as they were pretty cheap for a set of 4 spacers plus lug bolts, having heard of the vibration issues people had with H&R i wanted to stay away from them

I'm pretty sure ECS could get theirs TUV approved as well, if they wanted, but for something like a spacer, it's a waste of money for anyone but a huge company, especially when their clientèle is primarily in the states.

Thanks for the review! Glad to hear you're enjoying the spacers.

Our spacers are indeed intended for OEM wheels. Can they be used with aftermarket wheels? Sure, but we can't guarantee they will fit or not cause vibrations since they are not OEM.

I've run our spacers on my aftermarket wheels for 3 years and have never experienced any vibration what so ever. They also fit extremely tight as well - which I think is what you want. You're going to experience vibrations when there's play in the hub since its not completely centering.

I always throw a little anti seize on mine since I run them in the winter on my stockers. Helps with keeping them from becoming welded in from salt/road debris.

My ECS spacers actually just arrived Tuesday, (20mm all around), and H&R Springs are arriving Monday. Can wait to put them on.

ECS spacers look nice, and with them being so close to MI, even UPS ground comes overnight:) yay.

Another testament to the ECS Spacers. On my 2011 Ibis White A5 I have 20mm in back, none on front running S5 19x8 tri-5 (i think thats what they are called) black-powdercoated OEM wheels. No vibes and work like a charm!

    Reviving an old thread...

Just installed ECS 15mm on the front and 10mm on the rear. The flush look with OEM wheels is just the look I was going for. Unfortunately, I am getting vibration from 40mph to 67mph. I can feel it in the seat and not the steering wheel. Going to take them off and try a reinstall tomorrow. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Unfortunately a lot of people, myself included suffered vibration from ECS spacers.

My only tip would be to really thoroughly clean the mating surface on the hub and use 2 wheel hangars per wheel to get the wheel absolutely central on the spacer. Pop out the wheel centre cap as a good visual guide to how the wheel is sitting.

FWIW, I run ECS 12.5mm fronts and 5mm rears and have not had any issues.

I’ve also ran ECS 15mm and 10mm also with no issues.
