My driver side one was lost about 2 months ago and I replaced it now, my passenger side one is gone. do they loose tension after 10 months and just fall off? I haven't driven it off road or anything crazy. what the heck happened?

They do lose tension slowly but not after 10 months like that.

yeah you really can't mess up installing them but i think i may have the wrong brake pads. are the the anti rattle springs supposed to clip into the brake pad?

No, they do no clip into the pad. Are you positive you're installing them correctly? They're a real bitch to install due to the tension **** it is very hard to do by yourself.

You might. My OEM pads had a little slot that they "clipped or just fit into". I had a Meyle set that only had a small dip for them to fit into. It was near impossible to get them to sit into that dip but after a while they fit and they will not budge unless I pry them off again.

If you look at this link
    http://forums.audiworld.com/showthread.php?t=2664532
You can see that there is a little square notch or hole in the pad that the clip fits into. This is just like the OEM pads.

My Meyle ones did not have that hole but rather just a little curved clip. It made it very challenging. I will never buy those pads again. I just wanted something similar to OEM with less dust. I thought they would fit the bill fine. If you cannot get your Anti Rattle clips to sit into the curved clip or into the hole like the link above or your oem pads you WILL lose them due to the fact that the center latch has nothing holding it in under pressure.

There is no way they should fall off if they are installed properly...

The plain/non-logo ones are like $17 from GAP, I think.

All pads will have a retaining clip to hold them in the caliper, this clip is what the anti rattle clip locks into to hold it in place. To lose them they must not be clipped in properly or the retaining clip on the pad has broken away.

Mine were like the ones on the left. It will hold but it is extremely hard to get the anti-rattle clip into that groove. I recommend you just do the DIY. I did not want to grind or drill to fit the old clips in. You can also take a small bit of material off the anti-rattle clip on the inside edge to help push it into that groove on the pad. I have done over 1k miles with zero uneven wear or my clips coming out.

    Then your two options are as follows;

    1) Buy pads with the right retaining clip

2)Try to get the spring to sit in to groove on that lip on your current pads. It may be easier to just grind a small bit of material from the anti-rattle spring to help get it into place. Again, I did this and have had zero issues. It took some effort to get the anti-rattle clip into that groove but if you take a small amount of material off the backside of the clip it will make it much easier. When you go to try and sit it into that groove you will see the area on the backside I am talking about. Do not take off any more than needed. The springs are super strong but you do not want to make it weaker.

    Hope this helps!

this noise annoyed me to no end for 50k miles. 2 dealers could not diagnose it, i kept bringing it back and they kept saying it was because I had ceramic pads. Then i moved and brought it to a different dealers, they said the springs were missing and they replaced. Back to normal now.

I just went thru this, a pair of vicegrips will be your friend.
Get one end of the spring in the correct position, and grasp the other end with the vicegrips (right on the corner of the clip) and push like a muther********. Should be a tad easier with another set of hands.

OP, if you can, just get the OEM Pads (made by Pagid). Aside from brake dust levels, they are great pads for daily use, even repeated heavy heavy street use (canyon runs). Best part is, they have the correct clip for the anti rattle clips.
