2010 Premium Plus 2.0T 6MT
I brought my car to my exhaust guy who did an awesome clean job of taking out my two resonators and matching up the 2.5'' exhaust with a straight pipe. I kept the stock muffler on for now figuring just removing the resonators would give it a deep rumble nothing crazy. However the car under load <3k rpms sounds really loud, raspy and ricey IMO, after 3k it sounds great. Now my question is changing up the muffler with a magnaflow or borla turbo muffler help with this sound? or will it make it worse, not sure if the extra air flow will cut out the raspy sound or increase it.
Anyone have experience with this? It seems like I should of only removed one resonator for the suddle sound I was trying to achieve.
TIA
EDIT:
So I took some helpful advice from you guys and purchased a vibrant high flow res, it came really quick to my house and installed it today. The finish of the product was a A+ and the inside finish was a A so I give it a really good rating. Just like I was told it's small but it definitely did the job, my car sounds amazing now, no more nasty high pitch gargle more of a deep performance sound. Very happy, as soon as my Magnaflow muffler arrives I'll have my exhaust guy put it on with some nice tips. Over all I didn't spend too much I would of saved if I wasn't impatient and got everything installed at once. I was planning on taking some pics of the install with my iPhone but I left it in my cabin and realized after the car was already up on the lift. I'll try to remember when I get the muffler installed. I'll also write up how much it cost me exactly and some sound clips. There is already a performance gain from removing the two resonators and replacing it with one high flow one for sure. Obviously replacing the whole exhaust with a full Magnaflow exhaust kit or APR kit is much more desirable but for my needs this was way more cost effective and got the end result I wanted.
