Today I finished up my custom CAI...Total cost = $65($35 of which was a K&N Filter) Alot of people hate on these, but I like it.

I finally finished my brushed aluminum trim. After months of procrastinating. Thank God that's done. lol. I also put Yellow fogs and yellow matched city lights in a couple weeks ago. I am liking them.

I'll get better pics of the trim this weekend.

JR, The yellow matched city lights look great. I have been debating xenon match or yellow fog match for a while now and your pics have me sold. Once I match them, the fogs w/ city light mod is a must after seeing your pics.

Thanks! It's not that it's hard, it's that it is time consuming. And to be honest, I could have tried harder, but I am happy with the results. I started these like months ago, but never wanted to work on it at home, I would rather take a nap or play COD, so I started working on it at work on Saturdays when the boss is gone. lol. The strange thing is, it seems like the aluminum will absorb oils from your hands when it is sanded. I think that is why I have some color variation in the metal itself. Wear rubber gloves if you do this.
Some day I may do a piano black kinda look, but with gunmetal.

The heat shield I made is boiling hot after a drive home and the filter is LITTERALY cool to the touch. (side note: its probably all in my imagination, but I swear my turbo spools faster, just seems like I am getting my torque 'feel' 500rpms sooner than before)

anyways haters gonna hate, heres a pic. my heat shield is curved at the top like that so it butts up against the hood when closed so the hot air coming off the engine cant come over the top of it and onto the filter..

A little off topic since I didn't do this today but, I got a very similar setup and I may have to disagree with the spool times since that really relies on removing the stock cat. Although the sound is very audible which makes us just notice it sooner I think!
If you dont mind me asking, why did you cut the air scoop so short? Shouldn't you have ran it closer to the filter?
