Recaro Seats

Hey guys. Have specific question that I did NOT see covered after a quick search. I am in the process of obtaining some seats. They are out of a 2004 b6 s4. Light grey wrapped alacantra (sp?). The rest of the seat is black leather. Only thing is, it doesn't say recaro stitched on the seat. I just want to make sure I'm not getting the shaft. Does anyone have these seats? It's out of an alpine white s4. Thanks in advance for the help guys. I have just never seen a recaro without it being stitched on the seat. Are these rare? Cheaper/more expensive then the other seats?

The Audi seats do not have any labelling on them, but the Recaro equivalent (Topline i think) do have the name stitched in

Ooops i think i lied to you... maybe it was the other way around. Just went out to the garage and checked and it does say Recaro, and on AutoTrader they all say

I think was was trying to recall the RS4 seats which don't say Recaro... someone else better chime in before you buy them

All B6/B7 S4 seats say "RECARO". The exception is the 25quattro S4 which says "quattro".

B7 RS4s are the same seats but have the RS4 emblem embossed.

So wait, RS4 seats are the same exact thing as the S4 besides the different emblem emboss and the stitching around the seat?
From a few pics I looked at, it seems as if the RS4 have a slightly larger bolster on the sides?

I never paid attention to it lol

Strange. Never heard of that. All 4 seats should show 'Recaro'.

Were you the one that took the pics?
It seems to match as original recaro but it should have the writing on it.
The bolsters seem to match-up, the styling of it, the manual pull out leg rest

Searched google a bit and these seem to similar color:

But you can see the writing...

But considering you said these were pulled from an S4, i would assume they would be oem....

I just saw a set if seats on ebay last week someone was selling used. The seats looked identical to ours, as far as shape is concerned. But they were out of an isuzu or some Japanese Suv. They were black/ red and had no recaro etched in them. Maybe a recover job? Not really sure, just wanted to throw some input at the situation.

Are those photos inconsistent? in the first and second you can clearly see a tear in the 'alcantara' section, near the front. However, in the last picture, I don't see it?

If i were you, id ask for some better pictures with proper lighting... and if it still seems sketchy, just wait and get a pair you're certain is legit. That way you'll have no doubt. They're in the classifieds every so often too.

one is passenger and one is the drivers side. Durrr

Well, just wanted to do a quick update. I bought them because the deal seemed sweet. The seats are WHOOPED. But I'm not really upset by it. I have a customer that customizes limos that is going to redo them. The "fuzzy" centers will be ripped out and the leather reconditioned. Once they are totally done I'll post up some pics. Thanks for all of the help guys.

If the outer leather is in good condition and it's just the alcantra that is messed up you can buy just replacement centers for not too expensive. Search back a little, it was posted a couple weeks ago. It's a company out of the UK and they are pretty good about getting back to you. I emailed them previously about getting all new covers but they pretty much just do the Alcantra and other recaro fabrics. I couldn't get them to source me the Audi "Silk Nappa" covers.

I too would LOVE that url... This is a must if I ever end up selling the car, my driver and passenger seats definitely need the alcantara replaced.

So i finished the seats. The leather is a little dry but nothing some reconditioner can fix. Its is hard to see but they do say recaro on them. Sorry for the iphone pics. Thanks for all of your input guys. I appreciate the help.

I am assuming that this isnt real cowhide leather...any ideas on what to use to bring these back to a nice soft finish? If not, I will redo the leather next year, for now, I like how it looks.

It's Silk Nappa leather which I found out from Wikipedia is actually "made from unsplit kid-, lamb- or sheep-skin by tanning with salts of chromium or aluminium sulfate, and noted for softness and durability."

I figured Nappa Leather was a pretty general term that has been around for quite sometime. And I dot this from googling "silk nappa leather" and pretty much all the first hits that come up are from Audi forums

I'm new to the nice leather game, lol. I'm in an a4 don't forget. I did some searching and it seems like a product called "leatherique," is the brand of choice when it comes to restoring rough and brittle leather.
