Aight guys, just had my brake replaced yesterday, not one squeak which is good. i notice its less grabby like others said, its not really that bad. (which i don't mind and will get use to it soon)

I just notice today when i have my car in park mode, when i step on the brake pedal i hear this clicking sound and when i put my hand on the shifter i can feel the click going thru the shifter.
i remember i didn't had this click before the brake job. i don't think this is normal what do you guys think?

Just got back from the dealer the s/a told me its from the brake release to lock itself shifting to another gear? He said it was normal i don't recall having this clicking in park or neutral before the tsb brake job. Now i can hear it pretty loud and when i place my hand on the shifter
i can feel the click going thru the shifter.

Can anyone confirm this on their dsg that had their tsb brake job done or having this clicking noise?

    TIA.

I have a small click that I feel on my accelerator that I feel when I start up my car and turn off the parking brake. Once I get up to about 5/10 MPH I feel it click. Is this what you are referring to?

No I'm referring to when the car is at idle and "only" on park or neutral mode. When you press the brake pedal theirs a clicking or clunking noise that you can hear and feel thru the shifter. I google the problem what im having and it seems it's normal for automatic cars.
but i never heard the noise or felt it thru the shifter before i had the tsb brake done. But now i can hear and feel it thru the shifter could this be a bad install job?

    Anybody experiencing this issue?

I know what ur talking about, yes I noticed also when idling in park and pressing the brake it makes like a clicking and you can feel it through the shifter.I didn't have the brake tsb just them "modified" through dealer.Still squeaked a little but never brought back to dealer for fear of the dreaded "working as designed or normal" line.Ever since I had Tyrolsport RCS kit installed on the fronts more than a month ago, brakes are dead silent and function better.

It is absolutely the shift lock. I can feel it in any gear thru the shifter...I usually push the shifter to neutral at a light, and i feather the brake until I feel the click to shift back to drive.

I would LOVE to get rid of the shift lock from N to D, what a pain in the ass. As far as I can tell an N-to-D shift lock is not a requirement, only from/to P or R.

I must have missed the memo. Dealerships are replacing brakes now because of the noise? When I complained last year, they handed me a pamphlet from Audi that basically told me the noise is normal.

Last time I was in the service (at 15K service), I asked about the TSB and the dealer told me there were none for the S4. What's the TSB number? That being said, my brake noise magically disappeared lately. It was present when the temps were around 40 or 50, but now when it's really cold, the brakes are dead quiet.

Bump. Noticed the same noise in my car. Is this normal? I don't remember hearing this noise before.

Geez, this is an old one. Seriously, none of you guys have ever had an auto before where thee's a locking solenoid that engages/disengages when you have it in P and you press the brake pedal to shift out of P. This IS why you have to press the brake pedal to shift out of P. It's there for a reason. This is also why when this solenoid goes bad, you can't shift out of P. I thought everyone knew this... you will hear it and you will feel it, depending on how sensitive you have with your touch/hearing.

Thanks for the explanation. You right. Because of the shift lock, I always put my foot on the brake first then pull the shifter from P to R/D. Won't notice the vibration the shifter in this case because my hand is not on the shifter when I step on the brake. Funny that I just learned this after having the car for a year and this vibration and noise happens everyday that I drive my car.
