Is s-line suspension the same as sport suspension?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Before I get flamed I know that they are the same (because I used the search button ) but I recently sold my springs and red shocks from my s-line to a forum member locally in Phoenix and today he called and said he isn't happy with the drop and he thinks I had sport not s-line suspension because the drop wasn't low enough. I explained to him that s-line suspension is sport suspension and he said Audi told him otherwise. I promised him I would start a thread to confirm this so here it is. The suspension I sold him had the red shocks of a s-line (sport) suspension. Anyone who can confirm my statements please do. Thanks in advance.

There's no such thing as S-line suspension. There's sport suspension and non sport suspension.

Saying that, sport suspension has come standard on all S-line cars BUT did not come standard on 2008 SE's which had s-line exterior components.

If the shocks are red then it is the sport suspension.

Correct. That is the point I told this gentlemen. I DO have an 08' BUT mine did come with the sport suspension because as mentioned it was visibly lower than an a4 without sport suspension and my shocks were red. He also said that the car IS lower now but not as low as it should be for sport (or s-line in his words) suspension.

You're sure yours is a full s-line and not an SE? You have an S-line badge on your steering wheel right?

Does he have the same drivetrain and engine as you? Properly installed? If both are yes then maybe suggest B5 lowering caps.

I do not have the s-line badge on my steering wheel but an a4 without sport suspension looked like a 4x4 next to mine. Furthermore my shocks were red. He does have a 2.0t and cannot speak on the install since I was not there.

sounds like our cars are the same.

    2008 A4 non-S Line with Sport Suspension.

Go look in your spare tire well for the options sticker. Code 1BE indicates you have Sport Suspension.

1BE Sport Suspension - Sport alternate suspension; Excludes: [WQB] S line Sport Package

Note that S Line cars cannot add 1BE since it is already included:

WQB S line Sport Package - Front and rear alloy wheels with 18 inch rim diam; Front all seasons tires with 235 mm tire width, 40% tire profile and Y tire rating; Sport alternate suspension; Sports pedals; Wind deflector behind seats; Excludes: [WPX] Premium Package And [HK5] 235/40R18 Summer Performance Tires And [1BE] Sport Suspension

    This is mine:

Good luck. I hope you get things worked out.

Sounds like the guy who bought your suspension is an idiot. Tell him to get some lowering springs and stop whining!

Also tell him to measure the ground to fender and compare that to what its supposed to be fore a sport. (I don't know it but I know the info is out there.)

Thanks for all the info guys. I feel bad that the guy is not happy with the drop of the sport suspension but unfortunately the suspension is now on his car and it is exactly what I said it was in the classified ad before he bought it.

It should settle right? Or no because it settled in your car?

I would imagine that its settled already from being on my car. The guy did say that its lower than his stock suspension (which is why that was a dead giveaway that it is sport suspension and not the same suspension he had on before) but he thought it should be even lower. Aftermarket springs i.e. H&R, Eibach etc. are for an even bigger drop which it sounds like he was looking for.

Seeing my Sport B6 and my non-sport B7 next to each other the difference is striking. Without seeing them back to back its really not that noticeable...

B6 and B7 have the same suspensions btw (Except for the 2002...)

Sounds like the guy dosent really know how a SS equiped a4 looks... I dont know how much he paid but I dont know why anyone would buy used suspension and spend 6 hours installing for that small of a drop. Spend a little extra for new suspension that will give you the drop you want.

Its the guys fault for buying sport suspension anyways...he probably thought he was going to get some drastic drop for cheap....Thats what he gets for being cheap, should of just bought a real suspension in the first place...

If anything, what are the color code on the spring itself? That should give the buyer a piece of mind and be sure that they are sport springs.
The sport springs has a different color code then the regular springs.

Took me 8 hours one night while following the DIY in the b6 forum. Had problems through out the whole process that included spring cramps breaking and the pinch bolt seizing.

I got the Non S-Line and I installed a S-Line Suspension (RED SHOCKS) and it did give a drop.

It also is a more stiffer ride (My back has been hurting since...lol)

Yeah....it was the issues you had that added extra time. I just did the whole suspension last night on my friends whip in 3 1/2 hours.....by my self in the garage. And im not suspenion guru by any means. I'll be doing my suspension (throwing on sport susp) tomorrow.
