Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Hey everyone, I was just wondering what you think about wrapping a hood with 3m dinoc carbon fiber. This guy can do it for my for $350 which I dont think is too bad. Also, do you think it will ruin the paint in the future? I would appreciate some input. Thanks

Okay thanks, that's good to know. I was worried since the film was so tough that it would ruin the paint but I guess not. My car is white so it should look really good

Ya, I would also recommend some 25 inch rims. Also possibly a flamethrower near the exhaust and a giant 5000 watt stereo system. For a role model, check out the Saudi that writes in all caps in the B8 S4 section with carbon fiber everything and wings on every square inch of the car.

Seriously though, carbon fiber is ugly. The only reason carbon fiber is good is the reduced weight. People put carbon fiber on their cars to make them look like higher performance cars. But when was the last time you saw a One-77 or Avantador or other carbon chassis cars with exposed carbon body panels? Even F1 cars cover that shit up. In summary, anything done to a car that does not add performance or comfort is retarded.

Carbon fiber is certain pretty damn cool I mean that's why you see it on r8's and other exotics but throwaway is right, its done in accents not entire body panels but to wrap your car in something that's going to make it marginally heavier to imitate something that's makes your car marginally lighter is one gigantic slap in the face of logic and reason

If you really want to its yourcar and no one is stopping you just don't be a.sad panda whenyou take it to a show and people laugh at your car

from what i heard, any wrap on paint should only be left on for about 3 years, unless u want it to be permanently vinyl-ed. since your in jersey, there is a guy sort of local to you in NY. he does professional wraps ( his whole car is wrapped in matte black vinyl. not saying u should go to him to do the wrapping, but def ask him about damages to paint ( its what he told me about the 3 year thing )

Do you display an oversized copy of that check prominently on your car?

Oh yea your cool. I guess you can say that my parents bought my car when I worked and saved up for 3 years to put a down payment and still working to finance my car monthly, but yea think whatever you want. You don't know shit, the whole purpose of this thread was to see what others opinions were for this idea, not to have assholes like you comment. So now I see its probably not a good idea since others said so, I probably won't do it. Maybe I'll do a real carbon fiber hood. So stfu

Real cf hood = good choice
    Cf wrap = bad idea

Thank you for taking my criticism well (seriously some people get very bent out of shape)

Wow, easy there...I was only semi-serious. Sorry if I "hurt your feelings".

My point is that only someone who is very young (i.e. under 20) would think that a carbon wrapped hood on an Audi is cool. And let's face it, most folks under 20 who drive a $50K car had their parents pay for it...

i think the bottom line is that its your car and you can do whatever you want to it. some people like the "carbon fiber" look but most people, as evidenced by the replies to this post, think its very tacky (including me). most german car owners don't really see the value in race inspired cosmetic enhancements, im sure that if this was posted in a honda forum you'd get a lot of encouragement

ps. $350 seems like a huge about for wrapping your hood
