    N112 help!

While I was replacing the breather hose, I broke the plastic nipple that connects the N112 to the combi valve via a vac line, and now there is a vac leak. Other than purchasing a new N112, does anyone know of a less expensive way of fixing this leak? bypass? mod?

You can block the line from the n112 to the combi valve off, it won't allow air from the saip to enter the exhaust stream and you will get the incorrect flow cel.
It's doesn't affect drivability by any means, but It won't Pass inspection here in Texas.
The same thing happened to me, I tried to epoxy the nipple back to the n112, but as soon as I put pressure on it trying to get the vac line back over it, it snapped.

Sure. A less expensive way is to get a *used* N112.

So assuming you have a 1.8T (you didn't specify, for shame):

The possibly free way to fix this is to bypass the N249 and then swap the solenoids (N249 and N112 are identical). The N249 is [arguably] not necessary - some people delete it just by preference.

Thanks everyone, and apologies for not indicating the vehicle. I drive a b6 A4 1.8t Quattro, all stock.

BTW, could anyone point me to the proper write-up for the N249 bypass and N112 swap? I've done some research but like others, I'm confused on the vac line routing.

    I did a write-up for the B5 1.8T, but the N249 and N112 setup is the same on the B6 1.8T:

Basically you would do the N249 delete, but in your case you would need to plug off the vacuum source to the N249 (the PINK line), *instead* of looping the lines (the GREEN line). This is because you will be swapping in your busted N112 solenoid that will have no ability to "loop" the lines reliably. So you just plug the hose before it gets to the valve: same effect. You just stick a bolt in the end of the hose and clamp it tight. Plug in the electrical connector to the broken valve to keep the computer happy and you're golden.

Swap your 'nipples-intact' N249 valve over to it's new N112 duties and you're all set for zero dollars.
