    Service Due Reset

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Tried searching and didn't turn up anything. Please delete if this has been already discussed.

Decided to do the 15k service myself and now I just need to reset the Service Due so it doesn't keep popping up during ignition.

I've already reset the oil interview through the MMI but can't seem to locate the Service Due reset.

    Wondering if it requires a VAG-COM (which I don't have )

I feel like I have seen something in MMI under car/setup about service intervals. That being said, I think it may need done through Vag-Com... Someone who knows more should chime in soon I'm sure.

I don't know about $300... IMHO, there are other quality products out there at less than a 1/3 of that price.

True, I'm sure there are other options. Only research I did was the Ross Tech one, but definitely feel it is the best one out there since it is genuine. It's something you can use over and over for a lot of things so I was OK paying full price for that one.

It's one of the "best bang for your buck" purchases for our Audis. It is so useful in that you can do many changes to your car without damaging anything. Want to leave your LEDs on while turning, done. Want to watch videos in your MMI screen, easy. Want to reset your service light or clear that fault code, shazaam! It is such a useful device that I couldn't imagine owning an Audi without it. To each their own but I'd rather have it and use it at my convenience than trying to coordinate with someone to let me borrow theirs. So for me, this would be the best $300 I could spend on my car.

    Hi Guys,

I am in the same boat. I have neither Vag Com nor cable. Where do I get them? Where do I go to reset the service reminder after I get my Vag Com?

    Thanks

Not sure about how to reset it, probably can find that somewhere here. Best cable (in my opinion) is the genuine Ross Tech one. Just google/go to ross tech's site and you will find it. I think it is HEX-CAN but I called before I ordered and they told me the right one to get.

Once you plug your cable into the OBD2 port and start the RossTech program, you just click the upper right button labeled "SRI Reset". It's that easy. The cable allows you to clear codes as well should you ever remove a module while hard-wiring or installing anything into your car. It really is quite a handy tool.

To find out which cable you need, just input your VIN into the blank area of the RossTech link and it'll get you going. Good luck.

As is well known: Audi has equipped their vehicles with the function of reminding the driver to replace the oil after driving a certain number of miles, a function resembling a technical review - also depending on the course, as well as a function resembling a technical review - related to the time runs out. The following procedure explains how to delete messages to replace oil as well as the need to conduct a technical review by the VAG-COM.

Most Audi dealers will charge you to reset the service reminder or even refuse to do so if you haven't had the service performed by them. Most places charge 1/2 hour of labor. Can't really say I blame them, I know it's quick but still takes time out of their day and use of the tools. I also agree with not even clearing it because how do they know if you actually performed the service? They don't want it to come back and bite them...

I have not reset my service reminder indicator on my car since my 85K service and about 1300 miles after, I stopped getting the service reminder everytime I get in the car. Is it normal for it go away on it's own?

My 55k service stayed on until I reset it ( Carista app) 40k miles later. Under car maintenance what does it indicate until next service due. It should have one for oil and one for maintenance.

"scam you out of $40 to do this"... ??

you expect them to put it in their shop and clear codes at no cost?
I think $40 is more than fair. I also very much agree w/ the other above poster who stated that they don't even know if the service was really even done so why would they clear it at all.

ak112 is spot on if you've not got the need to justify more expense.

Not only will you get the service reset, but the ability to customize many functions, windows, roof, lights and so on. Trouble shoot too.

It's a poor man's vag com but it's met my needs and then some.

Just to confirm = Carista app now allows you to reset the service light indicator (C7)? Ive read that before it didnt, but youre the first that says it does.

    Thanks in advance!

I believe it's now included in the pro package. If you were one of the beta testers (like myself) they upgraded you to pro package at no additional charge. I was able to reset my service indicator this past summer when doing my 75K service.

Yes, you need a Windows laptop to run the program, or a Mac with virtual windows OS.

I did the SRI reset other day with my vag com and I still get "SERVICE DUE!" on startup. Has anyone else had that happen? It took a few minutes to complete too.

I have not used that tool, but the Ross Tech is a complete tool which allows a ton of changes. You can modify coding to every module, plus a lot more. Its worth the price.
