Help A4 does not auto lock, if left unlocked
Ever since I've gotten my Audi A4 2009 with Tech package. I have the wireless key so i never take it out of my pocket to unlock, lock or turn on the car but I've noticed if i leave the car unlocked it would stay unlocked!!!

It's very bothersome because I have let my brother borrow it to discover he never locked it!

Where is the setting to fix this?

I have VAG Com Cable btw.

What?? The car wont lock itself. Ever. You have to lock it...........

Well for the rest of us it will lock itself if we unlock it and not start the car. But that's for those of us who actually lock our cars to start with.

No why would it? What if you have kids in the car?

Yeah really, I've never had a car that doesn't lock itself automatically. That seems like a recipe for disaster.

The only time the car will lock itself is if you have the "lock at X km/h" or if you unlock the car, but do not open any doors (aka an accidental unlock)

The "Auto lock" function only RELOCKS the car if you click unlock but do not open the door. You still have to lock the car everytime you get out.

Help guys, my car doesn't unlock automatically when I want to get in. Even if I stand by the door for 15 minutes using jedi mind tricks, it does not unlock on its own! Where is the setting to fix this? Sheesh, I have the tech package and everything so it must be broken.

Only works with 3G Plus models with the Bio package. Go to the Car menu and then Bio-Metrics Setting. Hit learn with the key key in the ignition. You have to place your eye over what looks like the coin holder in the centre console. After that all you have to do is kneel by the drivers mirror and look into the left corner of the mirror. If your missing the function in your menu go to adaptation channel 0 and save 0 as the default value. Then go to car devices in the hidden menu and activate the gullible menu.

Thank you! I just tried it and it worked exactly as described!!

I can't help but thinking that based on your description the OP needs to activate the hidden clueless menu.

When i stand next to it, it does unlock automatically. I have to have my hand beside the door handle. To lock i have the little rectangle on the handle.

I don't have 3G MMI, i have the basic one. No GPS or backup mirror.

I guess a good smack to my brother would be the fix.

The car unlocks when you place your hand inside the door handle. You really should read your owner's manual, unless you want to keep getting teased by us...

    This.

On a side note, is there any way to disable this?

Haha, nice one. However, I would be curious to know if you thought for a second if you could/should add a new way to get in your for one of your projects ha.

MY car confuses me enough. I can put the windows up using advanced entry system, I can put all the windows up and down using the drivers window switch with the car off and door open. I can do some other odd things as well. I can't remember all the things I can do now.. I don't need to add another :)

Saliva works too. I do have a Prestige, but I'm told licking the door handle in the direction of the sun (given your present location) one time will open the driver door and two times opens the passenger rear door too. Nothing works well for the other 2 doors.

Good thing the handles are plastic.... Would not be good in the wintertime!
