    Hey Everyone,

So Votex no longer offers A6 Sedan roof racks from what i see after searching around. What other roof racks do you guys use that fit the a6 sedan in an OEM manner?

    cheers for input,
    Marko

From what I've seen, people are finding used sets from others that no longer use them. Other than that it's either yakima or thule racks with bases that fit our cars. I know once I have a way to transport my kayak without a rack I'll be selling mine, but that's prob going to be a while.

I use a Yakima rack, it looks pretty good on there.

does the yakima or thule rack require modification for it to fit and does it rub/damage the paint? I'd probably take them off in spring again..

Nope, it fits right on with no mods. It had very good protection measure but I installed a lamin-x rack shield to help even more.

here is what I found after a little search: http://www.akronsuperads.com/auto_pa...ile_Parts.aspx
I just bought a used one for $100 shipped to my door. Not gonna lie, I got lucky. Before I found the one that I bought, there was one on ebay that sold for around $210+$20 shipping and it was also used.
Also, when searching google I would use the part number (4B0 071 126) it is easier to find what you are looking for this way.
here is a pic of the rack mounted on my car

This is my 4.2L wearing it's rack. Yakima 48" crossbars, Yakima Q-Towers and a Yakima PocketRocket box. The only issue that comes with the box is you can't put the moon/solar roof into tilt position.

You should be able to find a used base rack pretty easily. My base rack is the same rack I've used for almost 10 years, I bought if for my Corrado, then moved it to my wife's B3 Passat and now it's on the A6. All you need to do is change the Q Clips to the vehicle specific model and the position the towers to the right width on the bars. The same thing applies to Thule racks.

i used to have a thule rack on my a4 b5 and there were a few things I dindt like about that rack:
    1. its not tall so when you have two snowboard back to back, they will touch your roof and scratch it.
    2. aftermarket racks dont look as good as oem...
    3. i hit my head on the rack a few times just because the crossbars are wider than they need to be.

I was luckily able to pick up a pair of Votex OEM's for $50 from some kid in Jersey that I found on Craigslist, I would say best bet is to keep searching for used and be willing to travel. Unless you need something right away, but like others have said the Votex racks seems to be the best option for our cars for multiple reasons.

I got my votex rack with bike attachment shipped from the west coast to CT when I picked mine up, I believe I payed somewhere around $200 total, but it was worth it to me.

    Wherever I want, GOSH.

I have a set for sale if you are interested. I was getting ready to post them on eBay and I ran across this post...

I'm not going to be selling them for $50 unfortunately, Nugget Puffer got one hell of a deal on his. They are complete though, I have 2 keys, the installation tool and both racks with unbroken covers and rubber seals included. Send me a PM if interested.
