    Fuel pump failure

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
    Hey guys..
New to the forum and this is my first post

I have an audi 8P S3 fitted with a GT28 kit. The problem i am having is with the intank fuel pump. I have an upgraded fueling system but i still have the standard intank pump. Lately i have been having problems with fuel pressure. After 5000rpm fuel pressure just drops and the car just dies off. We have traced the problem to be the intank pump..

Any advice on what to replace it with? A few people mentioned the bosch or the walbro..

    Thanks

I'm having a similar issue on my B7, but I have a new pump and new filter and the duty cycle logs of the LPFP don't go past 90%...and that's at 6850 RPM... until then it's around the 80% mark... ...

And I'm getting 2.8 bar at 6200 RPM... Have K04 and S3 injectors on Uni tune... Asked for help in the B7 forum, but came up empty too..

If you find out, please let me know...

APR HPFP????? I'm not having HPFP issues... Autotech is working just fine...

Can you put a Walbro inline in an FSI ?

Have to be very careful about this, since the FSI pumps are PWM based (as in varying voltage based, compared to standard pumps which run at a straight voltage).

There are very little choices for well tested high performance low pressure fuel pumps for the FSI motors.

Are you getting any faults? Make sure you have a 6.5bar fuel filter. The lower pressure filters look identical to the 4.0bar filter. And also do a mechanical fuel pressure test in conjunction with monitoring pressure in MVB 103 to make sure that your Low pressure fuel sensor (G410) is operating properly

We have started to see more and more of these, it sounds like a LPFP issue. If you can datalog you can tell right away if it is a LPFP based on your actual fuel pressure. Do a WOT pass, wait for the pressure to drop off, then lift quick off the gas and watch the actual pressure. If the pressure shoots up very quick... you have a LPFP failure starting to happen. If it stays low, then I would have to say you have a fuel filter issue or other problem.

    Hope this helps.
