    Bose speaker replacement

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Looking to replace my shitty factory bose speakers with something decent. I just bought a sub and amp and they wont do too much with shitty speakers.

I did some searching and seen some talk about specific speakers to change but I'm not 100% sure.

Im not sure the size of the speakers. I was told 4.25 in the front and 5.25 in the rear. Im not looking for deck lid speakers idc about them right now.

What should i do? Ive been searching for awhile and i seen its possible and there are speakers that will bolt right in and wire up to the factory bose amp and run fine.

Anyone replace their speakers with the factory amp?

    Any links to said speakers?
In the older threads i seen they go for around 50$ shipped each for front and rear.

    Any help is appreciated.
Looking to buy speakers soon if they don't require any custom work.

Running these for my fronts: Infinity Reference 4032cf
    http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...00_i00_details
Cost in the $40 range, requires very little modification to the mounting bracket to handle the extra mounting point. Remember the Bose speakers have three mounting points vs. four with typical replacement speakers.
Since these speakers are slightly smaller than the mounting hole, you will need to seal the opening between the speaker and bracket with foam.
Since they run at 2ohms, no problems running off the factory Bose setup.

From what I can tell, the most popular choice is to put 5.25 Infinity Reference speakers in the front doors and 6.5 Infinity Reference speakers in the rear doors. It requires a bit of work to do though. The stock size is 4 inch in front and 5.25 in the rear. These sets of speakers are all ~$53 on Amazon, doesn't matter which sizes you choose.

You only have to mod them as far as adding a sealant between the speaker and door panel and use some washers to hold them in with the 3 holes from the stock speakers since the new speakers have 4 holes in different spots.

The 5.25 speakers you want should be on that same page as the 4 inch speakers. They are called 5032cf or something like that.

I actually forgot about them. Honestly i dont care if they dont work. I just want to have all working speakers and a decent sub and amp.

If anyone knows anything involving the tweeter and aftermarket speakers post it up.

Im assuming i can just keep them wired up as the factory speakers are currently.

What speakers did you end up going with? (Size etc.)?

And did you get "subs" to fit the rear deck lid?

I bought the infinity reference speakers. 4" for the front and 5.25" in the rear.

I didnt buy for the deck lid. Im leaving those unplugged for now. I bought a 12" kicker sub and hifonics amp.

So if I were to buy the 4 or 5.25 inch speakers, I wouldn't need an adapter bracket or anything?

Has anyone tried using infinity kappa or perfect series speakers rather than the reference series? They are supposed to be better.

Also do we want 4" and 5.25 or 5.25 and 6.5??

And anyone have input on the front tweeters or rear deck speakers ?

you want 4" in the front if you don't want to do too much modification. My boston acoustic 4" speakers came with 4 tabs while the stock comes with three that you put the screws through, so I just bent one of the tabs and installed only 2. Anything bigger than 4" won't be able to use the stock points in the door and will have to be modified some way.

Okay sweet, I'll just stick with the 4inch speakers then. It just bolts right to the door? I don't mind drilling new holes.

Do some searching, you can get 5.25" speakers in the front doors with very minimal modification. You would never know unless you took the door panel off.

Yep I just used the same screw holes. Some speakers come with a set of screws so I just used those that came with mine. It screws right into the inside of the door panel which you have to take off.

It screws into the panel, not into the door itself?

Right there's three points drilled out in the panel.

So when people use the infinity reference 5032CF 5.25 speaker (with built in tweeter) for the front door do people disconnect the oem tweeter or leave it working in conjuction with the ones on the infinty speakers? I dont like the idea of disconnecting the oem tweeters and just having tweeters down by my feet/ Do you guys think it would be much better to run infinity kappa 50.9cs component speakers (separate 1" tweeter) and replace the OEM tweeter ont he top of the door?

Doing the component splits will be a much better solution, but also cost nearly twice as much. The stock size is 4" and the 5.25" take a bit of work, I doubt 6.5" will fit without some serious modification!

The link doesn't work for me. You can get 6.5" in the rear doors, no worries there mate. The max mounting depth is 65mm, there are 25mm in an inch, so you'd be cutting it awful close, but they should make it clear.

Those speakers are being installed in the front doors, but they are doing a fair bit of fabrication to make that happen. If you don't mind doing the work, then go for it!

for future reference, us metraonline.com when searching for anything audio related for cars. it will tell you all the essential information you need to know about a cars audio system. plus i highly recommend their parts. i worked at circuit city in the car audio department and used it just about ever half hour.

So with fitting these infinity speakers in will it require me to do a lot?

I want to replace all mine. I have factory bose.
Some say it requires me to seal the bracket but others say it'll work.

On the fronts, if your sticking with the 4inch (I recommend going this way) you will need to seal the lip of the speaker to fit in the existing speaker mount. I think even the Infinity speakers came with some foam but I used some double-sided foam tape. Then it requires the 4 screw mounts on the Infinity speaker to be trimmed so the speaker drops into the speaker mount. Use one of the existing speaker mount holes as the starting point for the 3 new holes that needs to be drilled into the speaker mount. It took me about 20 minutes per speaker to make the modifications needed.
