Modernizing the B5 interior..

Hi all !!

After a lot of thinking, I´ve decided to get a B5 RS4 in the next months (I´m in Europe), and the only thing I don´t completly love in it, is the interior...
how can I make it more modern ? Is it possible to adapt the new RS4´s steering wheel and center dash (Navigation and A\C controls) ? Are there other options regarding this matter ?

I think just Nav Plus will do. I wouldn't change anything else.

I love the interior of my B5 S4, it feels like a space ship compared to my previous car, a 1992 VW GTi hehe.

how does the B5 interior compare to the B6 interior ?

I think the B6 interior got very asian looking...lots of straight, boring lines, whereas the B5 had more ergonomics to it...a more organic flow. I would say upgrade your steering wheel and the Nav or just love her the way she is. Man, changing an RS4 is like giving plastic surgery to a supermodel! UNECESSARY!!!! just my opinion...then again, none of us here in the states can even get a hold of a B5 RS4. :(

B6 interior is sexy in its own respect, but it doesn't really stick out compared to others in its class. B5s on the other hand have lots of character!

I have a B5 S4 and my cuzin has a B6 A4. The only differences that I see between the two interiors is that he has dual climate control and I dont. Everything else seems the same to me.

thats good to know guys.. I was thinking of getting the B7 Navi plus retrofitted, plus the new RS4´s start engine button, steering wheel and front seats.. lets see !

the center dash, seems to be of the same width and design as the B6

Personally I'm just going to ditch everything in the center console and replace it with the largest touchscreen lcd I can fit in there. I'll takeover control of the foglight switches and climate control stuff with an arduino and control it via the touchscreen. Personally I'd rather have the screen real estate than a bunch of buttons I hardly use/can be automated.

Good luck with your RS4 though, can't wait to see how it comes out.

Look into a RNS-E Navi,B7 RS4 steering wheel and B6 Ultrasport shift knob for a more modern but still factory look. Or maybe look into a clean set of more aggressive Recaro's if your not satisfied with your already nice RS4 buckets.

Does anyone know if there is way to retofit a B6 cluster into the B5? Or maybe just the color display? Could be a good upgrade for people replacing dead pixel displays.

I just picked up a Pioneer double din avic-x930bt. I feel like with the Metra kit you can make it look pretty nice. Plus add bluetooth A2DP, aux, ipod, etc..

I have a Avic z120bt and you can change the color to whatever you want...I assume that goes for a lot of Pioneers. Do a search and you'll find picks.

I just wanna say that I absolutely LOVE the nighttime lighting of our interior. The little dome LED's that light up the shift knob... I love the red/amber on everything. But what I love the most is that our gauges are red numbers with white needles. I can't stand that EVERY car these days is white numbers with a red needle.

Whoa old OP date...

One of the things I wanted to do when I got my car was to get the interior up to my B6 standards (which had an RNS-E). Little by little I did a few mellow mods that really transformed the feeling of the interior, while keeping it very OEM, clean and simple. I really think the departure from the wood trim, symphony radio with tape deck and the steering wheel make a big impact.

Here are my mods:
• S3 shift knob / boot conversion
• Defi boost gauge and power commander
• S3 Euro flat bottom steering wheel with airbag
• Hardwired V1 radar detector
• OEM RS4 Door Sills
• OEM RS4 Black Door Handles
• RNS-E Audi Navigation
• Bluetooth
• OEM RS4 Piano Black Belt Line Trim

If I decide to keep this car, I think I'd end up doing the Recaro Sportster CS seats that I've coveted forever, redo the silver alcantara on the side panels to the newer style black nappa leather with the rear seats to match, and maybe an RS4 cluster.
