Upgraded the DV today to a Forge unit to replace my failing Stock C revision one.

A better picture of the AFE Intake...It included a charge pipe... thats why I selected it over the carbonio...However the fitment was horrid...

I'm happy with it for now....Still have a few things coming...Not sure what my next mods will be...I'm gonna try and hold off for a few months but we all know that will never happen...Prolly turbo back exhaust and a good set of coilovers next

AFE Sucked...

Here's what I sent ECS...They gave me a full refund...

Will this RMA be subject to the 15% restocking fee? Given the quality/design issues this part has displayed and the failure modes currently present as a result of these non-conformances, I would have a very difficult time swallowing this cost. I am also requesting to be reimbursed for partial shipment charges for order number E413573.

As discussed, I have not put in any additional time into obtaining measurable discrepancies (via Romer CMM) on the out of position holes at the heat shield-to-charge pipe joint or MAF input. I also have not obtained any vag-com logs that will prove my assumptions of the charge pipes being a different volume around the MAF location. As I’m sure your technical support will agree, a larger MAF housing will produce an increase in the volume of air, but a decrease in the velocity across the sensor for a given volume of air. The MAF sensors in these cars are designed to read the velocity of air coming in through the intake and will then calculate a volume from an algorithm located within the ECU. Given that the velocity of the air is lower (although volume is larger), the ECM will add a minimal amount of fuel to maximize the efficiency of the combustion cycle. On the exhaust side, the O2 sensor will see this as a lean condition and add additional fuel. The handshake between the MAF and the O2 sensor is very delicate. When this condition occurs, the inputs to the algorithm (the O2 and MAF voltage) no longer makes sense to the ECM and it will eventually throw code P2177.

If you have any more questions, you can have a technician contact me and we can discuss in further details. I have full access to a quality lab here at work. I would be able to place obtained dimensions into a formula and tell you the exact correction factor needing to be programmed into the ECU to run this intake. I am worried that you will have additional problems with this intake as the root-cause is a design issue that has been overlooked by the folks at AFE.

Some new pictures again. Cleaned up the rear tips, car actually got a buff and a wax.

Personally, I like these wheels when they're clean. I'm not sure why as a lot of people hate them. However, these wheels are a pain in the ass to clean, and they will be going away....soon...I'm currently looking at a set of 18 inch VMR in silver to swap out the stock wheels with. Will be getting some 19" for summer wheels next season



Before on the right, after on the left. Being stage I+ with a testpipe this car, the tips turn black. I just installed a new set of NGK Laser Platinums...Car doesn't seem to run much different, maybe slightly smoother at idle



Clean...This car is the cleanest car I have ever owned, washed, or otherwise...This include the cars I have detailed, Porsches, Vettes, you name it, even my S4...PO was rediculous with taking care of this thing







I would legimiately think about eating off of this engine bay

They have a chrome coating over them. They look clear in the housing but flash orange.

Thanks man! It's starting to come together. Tinted tomorrow. I'm trying to figure out what wheels I want to run next year. I'm thinking that it's probably going to wind up wearing a set of 19" VMR wheels in 35 offset just like alot of other people do with B7s (they look so good and the price is hard to ignore...tried and proven). I also need to get an exhaust and I'm looking into a turbo upgrade. We'll see... I get bored easily and winter is the worst time for that. Last year I stayed pretty busy with work and some of the new emissions programs that were starting up for the iT4/T4 changeover for offroad diesel. To add to that, the GF of 2.5 years and I just weren't working out for each other anymore (we're on 2 different levels, she's 23 and not doing much with her life and I'm 26 and at least trying to do something) so all of a sudden I have a fairly sizeable amount of "disposable income" and time...I'm currently looking for a daily-driver so stay tuned, things could get REALLY interesting in this thread...

My Coilpack #4 was all sorts of goofy looking. Die-Electric looked baked to all heck. Was super nasty/chalky. Not sure what caused this. I dont' believe I had any misfire codes...Oh well



Car runs much better now and seems to be doing better on fuel. I will be installing a new O2 sensor tomorrow along with the snub mount. Will also be installing my new Devils' Own Meth kit in the following weeks too :)

Shit is dialed in pretty damn well. Did a 2-3-4 gear pull with Rob (MK6 GTI with every bolt on imagineable minus a larger turbo running race file + meth) on the way home. He still edges me out but by maybe a half car through that range. However, considering he has more mods and 300 lb less to lug around, I know a new HPFP, FMIC, and a full exhaust will make this car DAMN quick! Full exhaust is already on the way, other stuff will more than likely be coming within the next few months. I know I said I wasn't going to mod this car, and it's gone from bone stock to this in ~ 8 months...lol...wow

On with the pictures.

Where we tapped into the res for the meth. Currently I'm running close to a 50/50 mix. Pump kicks on around 2 psi and goes full bore around 10 psi. I'm running the 100 oct file from APR and the thing runs STRONG. I haven't done any logs but the butt dyno feels GREAT!



We mounted the pump on the stock bracket. Didn't even have to drill any holes!

Here you can see where we tapped into the upper intercooler hose using the dedicated Devils Own kit for rubber hoses. No leaks...and pretty discrete. This is a VERY clean install

Attached to the frame rail there is a black bracket that runs up to support the coolant overflow tank (also where my catch can is mounted). On this bracket, there are 2 holes in the area that I mounted my pump. One of these holes is threaded, the other is not, I used the correct sized hardware to mount the pump using the threaded hole on one side, and then used the same hardware on the other side with a nut on the back. The pump has isolator dampers installed to help eliminate vibration. The bolts were ran through these bushings. The holes on the black bracket do not line up perfectly with the holes on the bracket for the pump. However, they're close enough (especially with the one hole not being threaded) to make it work. I can try to get some better pictures for you if you'd like?

I only used two mounting points so there was a bit of vibration still present. I cleared this up by using some 3M Velcro adhesive in between the backside of the pump and the bracket to work as an isolator. I hope the pictures are what you're looking for. I could probably get a few better pictures if I started ripping some things apart, but I'm really not in the mood to do that.

I went and picked up some BKR7e plugs from Advance. I had a ton of them sitting in my garage (and BKR6E) from my 1.8T/2.7TT days. However, I went out and bought new ones to start a fresh (they're like $2 per plug so why the hell not, right?).



I was multi-tasking (on a conference call with a Chinese Die-Caster and a Mexican electronics company, drinking my dinner, gapping plugs, and watching events from the conference call unveil on Webex)







Oh, and I was watching the Military bowl too (pretty crappy football, but a trackmeet and kinda interesting none the less)

I'll let everyone know how it runs tomorrow. I don't have any doubts that my car's timing issues will have gone away at 5K+ RPM.

Vanity Lights (go above the mirrors)
Glovebox Light

I also got License plate LEDs

It might be kinda ricer, so I'm going to plug a few in and see what they look like, I might not run them all, but for the price I paid on the kit, I won't be upset if they just get thrown away.

Also in the market for an 034 Inlet pipe. Will probably buy one of those from somewhere by the end of the day
