Audi B5 S4 Exhaust options these days?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Back in the day the UUC exhaust was the one to beat (subjective of course). But I see they no longer make it. I've been out of the game for 8 years or so and getting back in...starting with an exhaust.
Can you guys help me....what are the popular full exhausts systems these days? Any go to standards I can start researching? I see Miltek and APR so far.

I have a Nuespeed, not sure of they make it still. But I had a UUC and traded that for this. The UUC was just too loud down low for me. I dont want to hear that all the time.

There are a lot of options and it can vary a lot in quality, volume, price, flow ability, etc. Is your car mostly stock? Here's just a few I can think of off the top of my head...

    -SSAC
    -034
    -APR
    -JHM
    -AWE

I know I left some out, but that should be a good start... try searching around on youtube and such and you should come across a few good examples.

There are various options, like you said Milltek(3" or Dual), APR (3"), ASP(Dual 2.25"), AWE(Twin 1 & 2 Discontinued), Borla(3"), Techtonics(Dual 2.5") etc. Shoot me a PM and I can price out a setup for you.

AWE Twin1 and ASP in my opinion are best sounding. There are different setup's with dps or piggies but I think those two are nicest sounding. Anyone have a ASP for sale? or pics of ASP on a car?

Very helpful post Kai. Some of those I saw, but its still good to ask.
It will be curious to see how the APR exhaust goes over on other mod set ups. Reduced drone = awesome.

Agreed. As far as OTS systems, both the Twin1 and ASP exhausts are my favorite. Here's my ASP with 89mm tips

I'd like to keep my car.

I have the SSAC single muffler set-up, came from a single 3" Borla. Both are kind of on opposite ends of the spectrum. With my Borla, I had stock downpipes (which essentially was no louder than stock), then piggies with the Borla (which was... the same, really), then I went to the SSAC catback with piggies (which was getting to be pretty loud), and now I'm full SSAC turboback (which is really loud). There are plenty of options out there - I think there's even a thread dedicated to just exhaust clips. I'll see if I can dig that up for you.

I think most guys are going the custom single 3.5" or even custom single 4" these days depending on the car... If I had it to do over again, that's what I'd do. I just don't feel like going through the hassle of swapping exhausts AGAIN, ha. Best of luck with your decision.

I found my OLD video from back in the day. I didnt want to go with the 89mm tips, so I went with the smaller. Just to give you a better idea as to size. Dont mind the plate either. I dont have it anymore :)

Really depends on what you are looking for!

There are a variety of B5 S4 exhaust systems currently out there, ranging from cheap and easy, to incredibly high flowing and high quality.

Are you looking for something quiet and refined? Or more burly and loud like the UUC were? Are you looking for just increased sound? Or do you want a performance increase too? Are you running aftermarket downpipes, or considering it?

I would upgrade your downpipes before you upgrade the rest of the exhaust; improving the downpipe size and removing at least the pre-cats will help power and spool, as well as keeping things cooler in the engine bay without those hot precats.

We offer 3" stainless downpipes, and a full 3.5" cat-back exhaust system that is made to compliment any turbo setup, from K03 to Tial 770 or larger. Our exhaust is not the cheapest out there by any means, but for full 3.5" 304 Stainless and a wicked sound, it is worth it in my opinion.

I have the true dual ssac exhaust (turbo back - single muffler [I think it's only single]) and I love it a lot. A buddy of mine has a full 3" back and I personally think mine sounds better (I'm 2.75").

Who makes the most quiet exhaust? Because that's what I want! I most likely will go with the resonated ssac, because the price is unbeatable.

APR used to have the Stealth, which was very quiet. It's now made by Billy Boat (and I think it was made by them back when APR offered it too, they just re-branded it). The Stealth is probably the absolute quietest exhaust you'll get nowadays if you're after something that's really quiet.

    http://www.ecstuning.com/News/B5S4_BillyBoat_Exhaust/

Vibrant was relatively quiet also, but they are no longer made. A vendor on here recently tried to get a group buy going on a new run of Vibrant cat-backs, but I don't think enough people bit the bullet and the deal faded. It's a shame because the Vibrant used to be the best deal around. Great sound, not obnoxious, and a very VERY reasonable price.

Milltek 3" is also very quiet, but pricey for a 3". The AWE Twin 2 is fairly quiet as well.

There are older Euro exhausts that were VERY quiet, like Scorpion, Remus and MTM, but good luck finding one of those. Not worth the hassle to try and find one, IMO.

I like the Milltek super dual but for $1200-$1300 I'd rather go with the SSAC. If anyone has a Milltek that they want to get rid of let me know .

Yup, 034 3" downpipes with their race cats. I'll be getting rid of the cats soon though. I love the 89mm tips, imho they fit the stock bumper perfectly and look amazing. The thing I love about my setup is it's tone. Nice and deep, doesn't get annoying just cruising around, and sounds beastly at WOT. These reasons are also why I rank the Twin1 up there. Other than that, I'd go with a custom setup.

challenge motorwerks does a very nice exhaust that is very similar to the UUC.

This is most likely the exhuast I will be going with.
