I am about 2 sec from purchasing this one for 349 USD:

    http://store.ross-tech.com/shop/VCHUC.html

I am going to turn of the seat belt alarm and the auto locking of the doors.

Is there a better offer out there for the same software or is this my only option? Before you mention it, I know no one who owns this so I can borrow it. I have to purchase it

To perform those two items you mention, you can purchase a cable off of Ebay for <$15 and using Ross-Tech's VCDS-Lite is perfectly legal with 3rd party cables.

Hmmm...interesting. Can you please help me find that cable on ebay? Or give me some keywords to use in my search. Thanks.

It's a gamble. Some of the ebay cables dont work well,or at all. Some of them dont work with VCDS correctly due to driver
Conflicts or operating system changes. And..i think? ..you'll still want to giveross tech $99 for a license.
I'm all for saving a buck and "sharing" software or whatever. But my VCdS cable is the best money i have ever spent on my car, at all, period. I did have a cheap cable originally too and don't regret upgrading.
But worst case you'll just be out $15 or so if it doesn't work right.

listen man, the past couple threads you have been posting are things that you can easily search for and find the answers to, i recommend you reading the newbie user guide and trying searching for your answers.

there are other ways to do this, but its kind of like pirating music....i mean you still pay for it, but this is one of those things where im actually happy to spend th extra dollar and give ross tech the money they deserve for having such an outstanding product

No you're right, I have to spend the 99USD for the LITE license. So it will be quite a bit if it doesn't work. I will chew on it, but since I have two Audi's and I probably can sell it later if I at some point don't need it anymore I may spend the 349. But I have to pay for shipping to Norway + VAT here in norway (25%) so it will be more than 400 USD...

I believe I remember one of the moderators speaking out against such posts.

I recommend getting the legit cable as it will always be of use and can help you diagnose any problem that may occur with your vehicle.

Against advising on the legal use of the freeware version of VCDS-Lite? Ross Tech's website addresses use of it with 3rd party dumb interfaces. I was not advising on the use of 409.1

Certainly, anyone is free to purchase the authentic Ross Tech cable, but R-T obviously distributes the freeware version of VCDS-Lite on its website for some reason.

I stand corrected... just didn't want the thread to be closed like all the others.

It is the best money spent if you want to keep your car for a long time, you already paid to get an Audi instead of a VW, right???

Hmm, VW use vag-com as well... I dont think third party cables can read all the info like logs and some modules, dont remember. I gave up on Ebay cable when it stopped working on me out of nowhere

    Hi Guys,

The engine oil sensor of my Q5 is not working and it shows low all the time even if the car just did the oil change. I found this engine oil reading in VCDS but it is in MM. Does this shows the engine oil capacity? If yes, why it is not in liters or ML? Hope u guy can help because I really can't read the oil level without the dipstick and with the faulty sensor.

    Thanks.

back from the dead. i found this thread through searching, so back off haters.

OP - did you or know anyone who purchased ebay cables? i really really don't want to spend the $349 for a cable. i don't mind spending the $99 for the software though. and also, is the program hard to use? thanks for any help.

also, all the cables i found on ebay note that their cable is compatible with 409.1 or older... with this software, can i disable euro lights, enable HIDs and DRLs?

P.S. - why does it matter if people don't search or make new threads, how is it hurting you in any way? if you don't have anything of value to input, then don't. thanks, and thanks.
