Pioneer AVH-P4200DVD (in dash double-DIN DVD head unit)

I have a 2001 B5 S4. Has anyone installed the Pioneer AVH-P4200DVD (in dash double-DIN DVD head unit) in a B5 S4? This unit apparently allows the playback of videos/movies from an ipod.

Also, did you purchase a Connects2 installation dash kit or Metra dash kit to match the interior dash of the B5? And what replacement door speakers do you find good for the B5 S4? (Polk, Boston Acoustic, JL Audio, rockford fosgate?) Thanks in advance.

I have that unit in my car right now. You need the metra dash kit. The stock Bose speakers are good. You don't really need to replace them

Did you have to do anything special to install? I heard the stock bose amp does not work with aftermarket units.

long as the deck has preouts it works fine with the bose amp, the metra harness adapts the preouts from the deck. 70-1787

Thanks for the replies. For those that installed this Pioneer AVH-P4200DVD unit, what special cables did you have to use, and do you know where to purchase the Metra harness - is 70-1787 the part no. for Metra?

I see a cable for CD-IU200V (for Ipod/Iphone use), CD BTB200 cable for blue tooth, and Avic-U220 for navigation with this unit. Are these the cables that you used for your install? Was Metra selling the faceplate seller also?

It has everything you need...You need the amplified antenna if you want the radio to work. The cables you mentioned are optional...You don't need them for install but you do need them if you want Ipod, bluetooth, and Nav.

I have installed quite a few double dins in b5 s4's. It's definitely a bit of work, but with the right parts you'll be fine

[shameless plug] Since you mentioned adding bluetooth, ipod cable, and nav, why not just buy my avic Z110/Z120? I already have the ipod cable, and some of the parts to install the screen in your car. Oh and I even have an audi mmi bootup screen -
