Question KW V1 Rear Coil Adjustment - HELP PLEASE!!! - pics.

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Hey guys. My car is currently on jack stands in the garage. I was able to successfully adjust the fronts ok, but the rears seem insanely difficult to even get access to. I cannot even get the coil tool up in there to adjust it. Also, it seems like there is no space for me to adjust the coil (spiral threads) upwards.

I'm attempting to raise the car up for winter driving - about a one inch raise. Which direction would I go - would I spin this piece that is on the spiral upwards to raise the car (which is how I did it in the front)? My brain hurts. Can anyone please chime in? I'm desperate here. Thanks.

    Pics are rear driver's side:

Lol seriously?? You can't figure that out? I guess not everyone is mechanically inclined. So here it goes. Spin that purple piece to the left... So it slides down the black piece... That will separate the two pieces or create a bigger gap from the coil perch to the frame

    Hope you figure it out

^ ya, really not mechanically inclined, but trying...

OK - just to make sure I understand shane: I am spinning the purple piece on the black spiral piece to the left - make it go "down" (closer to the ground, and closer to the bottom of the black spiral piece) - correct??? Is that all I need to do?

Its nearly impossible to adjust the rear's because of the awkward location. The easiest way to adjust the rear is to just take it apart, drop the rear subframe like during install, pull out the perch, adjust and replace. Then just put everything back together

    F this.

The rears are literally impossible. DRAKELORE must be a superhuman to do this. I don't know how to "take it apart" or "drop the subframe" ...

I am in the process of plasti-dipping my rear wheels, and will just put them back on. I will post pics of the wheels soon. It sucks though because now my front fender-to-ground (FTG) will be approx 26.0", and the rears are around 24.75".

if they are anything like my eibach coilovers which were kw v1 coils were than they are hard as hell. i had to use a 3/8 allen on a ratchet and the coil over wrench to adjust or the threaded part will just turn also

Ugh. Not even sure where I would put an allen up in there. I wish one person on the face of the earth made a video about this or a detailed DIY. I searched everywhere with near-zero success.

Let me see if I can explain my best. ( I'm on my phone so can't draw to help)

So on the rear where you have the threaded part and threads are facing down. On the bottom ( inside of the spring coil there should be a hex shape indent. Mine were labeled eibach coilovers but said made by kw. Anyway what I had to do was use a ratchet a 3 inch extension and a 3/8 Allen tip for the ratchet. Tip goes in side the hex shape and if you want to raise the rear have the ratchet as you were going to tighten and coil wrench going left so both tools will go towards each other. It's a pain in the dick but easiest way with out dropping the sub frame to adjust.

That way you end up turning the whole threaded part and not the adjustment nut. Much easier with more leverage than the coil wrench

ok thanks. I'll take a look again before I put my "new" black wheels on soon. maybe I was missing something. I still didn't have any room though for the coil tool to move either way, it's strange. I'll report back.

Schizzy explained it better lol, I thought u meant which way to spin?? Bassically it's possible to do it without that method, just need some lube and strength :-/ good luck, I didn't mean to sound condescending

Yup nut goes left and if your doing it my way threaded part goes right.

Word of advice if doing it my way take white out and make a line in both parts so you can count how much you turn it so you can be even on both sides :-)

You should be able to spin it with your hand. No load on the spring. Were are your jack stands? Might need to use some cleaner to clean the threads, or lube

Not the rears. The fronts you can but the rears there is to much tension

I had a rattle due to the two top bolts not being tightened enough on the strut mount.
