42 Draft Design VS BSH PCV fix and Oil Catch Can

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Did a search on the forum, can't seem to find if anyone has done a comparison of these 2 products.

42 Draft Design is for a mk5 gti but im sure a bracket could be fabricated to hold the catch can. It looks as its a more robust design, but know little to nothing about the company, while BSH seems to be the mainstream fix for the PCV boost issues.

    42 Draft Design:

    BSH:

Does anyone have any insight on the 2 products? Success/Horror stories for either?

Draklore has the 42dd. It's a good product, but all hoses/block offs/etc will have to be supplied by yourself. Just get 034 for best bang for your buck, and a complete system.

Local shop has a kit that includes all the piping, apparently 42dd supplies them as well, they just are not shown on the photos. Does this change your opinion at all?

Not really. The 42dd is made for the transverse engine, so I would bet the hoses will be the wrong length, and mount will not not work, since it is made to mount near the passenger headlight. It will work, but you will have to make it work.

For only 30 bucks more, the 034 looks much better, has very nice looking custom hoses that fit just so. Plus it has an oil drain setup included, and the ability to add a boost tap to the mani plug. Just saying, you get so much more with the 034.

But yes, the 42dd can work.

Thanks! I did all the research for myself, but figured I'd share. 034 was the choice for me. Good luck!

I went with BSH, I like it. It took them a little time to get it over to me, about a month, but that is my only real issue with that.

Umm much better quality IMHO from
42dd, and I'm not being biased (yes I am) at all. But look at the two products side by side... The 034 has fancy hoses meant to retain the engine cover, which it still doesn't... The 034 is a closed setup and kind of mass produced look IMHO that looks OE I must admit but doesn't contain any sort of baffle or filter, just relies on velocity of a swirling vortex or some shizz. 42DD is beautiful CNC billet, with removable top and baffles, it DOES COME WITH HOSES, ADAPTER PLATE, PCV CAP AND TAP FOR BOOST REFERENCE IF WANTED. only downside IMHO is the not as fancy hoses, and the fact you got to make a custom ish bracket

Here's mine... How can you resist???

Any questions anyone has on the bracket I can answer, i used nothing extra except a zip tie I had laying around, and a few secret swaps I will share if anyone is interested, cause I actually have changed the bracket since this photo :-)
Good luck with your choice, I'm not trying to bash 034 just think for the price point of their product, the can could be a little less "can" like, lol

I know everyone knows this but Vortex can has an internal vortex system that forces the blow by to the bottom of the can due to its design. You do not need to add baffle material, steel wool etc like you do w/some cans. The way its designed, there isnt a way for blow by to escape to can, check their website for a pic (its been posted on this thread before IIRC) I ran the can on my B5 for 2 years+ and it will soon to be installed on the B7. It Def did the job, esp in the colder months. I never experienced any problems in terms of freezing can or lines w/the vortex can or even with the shittty ebay OCC I had previously. The ebay can worked but the fittings that were attached sub par, that what you get for $15.

Anyway, Ive heard good things about the BSH and 42DD cans, though the 42dDD can seems over priced IMO, I gotta check to see what it comes with, i forget. My custom setup with SS braided lines & 034 Vortex can will be installed soon before it gets colder. These are my 2 cents,

Anyways, Happy Thirsty Thursday AZ folks

EDIT def was not Thursday last night haha
