    Define "inside"

you have window switches on the arm rest area, memory seat button above the cubby behind the speaker, you have the door lock and unlock near the door pulls

not sure what else i can think of

So I guess I Should clarify. I Have a 2001 A6 2.7T And the buttons are literally on the door frame itself. Not the door. they are in the actual car frame, heres a picture.

K the button I have in there I found on the floor and just put it in. Not sure if it is the correct button or not.

K this is the placement but on the drivers side.

^ You're thinking of the wrong place vin.

One switch is the trunk pop, the other is the interior pressure sensor disable.

Wish I could help. My car is at work and I can't remember which button is on top. Just push one to see if the trunk pops. Other
Will disable the interior alarm / motion If you leave a dog or perhaps a small child in the car.....

Top is alarm and bottom is trunk. I replaced both of mine and got the new buttons and all from the dealer

I don't see how the trunk pop button is important. I can't imagine a time where I would want the trunk open but I would still want the doors locked.

    This.

And the trunk can still be opened with the key, the remote, and just by lifting the trunk handle when everything is unlocked. in over 4 years I have never used the button by the door as my method to access the trunk.... And when I was using the A6 for work I would access my trunk 6-10x a day..

The alarm one I have used a bunch. It bypasses the interior sensor. Normally, if you leave a window open a little & set the alarm, it will trigger if something reaches in or even with pressure changes. With the button pressed (red light *on*) it will bypass that. So for example, you could leave a window open a little for vent and still lock up the car..

The trunk button on my allroad self ejected this weekend for no apparent reason, but both little tabs are broken so it won't stay in anymore. I don't think I have ever even used that button. Is there any place to get it besides the dealer? How much are they?

I replaced my trunk pop button with a passenger seat ejector button... hence trunk pop button is very important.

It should unclip at the bottom then it needs to slide upwards. I had my seats out when I did it so it was a little easier to figure things out.

Its a bitch, i can take a picture of my bentley diagram for you if you want.

i have thought about using the trunk pop button for a lock out relay so i can use my regular horn switched on the steering wheel but press the magic button and it does train horns instead. perfect way to say f*** you in traffic with out having to raise my voice.

The purpose of the trunk button is to be pressed in accidentally and have "open trunk" icon on your dashboard just when you don't need it which is when you start driving. That button has completely no point imho unless you tell you wife to get out of the car, then lock the doors and after that you press the button to let her open the trunk...
