Our new 2012 A8L W12

Greetings Everyone,

I just wanted to share with you guys a new addition to our garage that my father just picked up on friday... It is definitely one of a kind!
I'm jelly, 12 cylinders = me-**-> It's got all the options including the Audi Exclusive Design Selection Balao Brown interior.

The technology is just stunning, from the wikipedia and WiFi hotspot, to the massaging seats (front and rear(!)) I could push buttons all day long in this car!

My pops just called me saying he's thinking about a new car, I told him to look into the Audi A8L W12, Panamera Turbo (S), Flying Spur, and if he's got patience maybe S7 or S8 (I have a feeling that 4.0T is going to be a fantastic engine), we'll see what he comes back with.

Thanks! The WiFi actually works really well, you can either go in and configure the SSID and security protocols etc. I thought the T-Mobile service would be laughable but it actually does a really good job and loads the google earth and wikipedia super quick (not as fast as it accelerates though...)


The purchase of this has been a long time coming... We have looked at Audi S7, S8, R8 Spyder, Porsche Carrera GTS, Targa 4S, Maserati Quattroporte, Gran Turismo, Mercedes CLS63 AMG, S63 AMG, CL63 AMG, BMW/Alpina B7, Jaguar XJ SuperSport, Bentley Continental GT, and Ferrari California. Quite a long list...

He came really close to ordering an S63 but I told him that for the same price he could get a W12, which I thought was a lot more attractive and modern. Big Mercedes are looking kind of dated these days.

He was coming out of a 2008 MB CL550 and before that he also had a 2008 LS460 and 2008 BMW M5. We love our German cars though, we've got 3 Audis now and a Porsche.


Also he is still first on the waiting list for a new S8 when they are released. I'm not sure if he'll end up swapping for it, I personally think the W12 is a little cooler. But it will be a while because if he orders an S8 he wants to get it Audi Exclusive'ized which I imagine will be quite a long process.

Holy ffffffflapjacks! That's an amazing car. The interior is nothing like the interior of the A8 at my dealership. This is a whole different level of car.
I just bought a new S5 and our sales guy made us come back to learn to work the MMI and all that. When you buy an A8, you must have to take a college course.

Thanks! Yeah I am fortunate enough to get to drive/borrow it anytime I am around! I just can't believe how smooth and elegant it is to drive!

It does have the google maps which is pretty amazing, you can even overlay Wikipedia and panoremio(sp?) over the maps as points of interest. Or look up the local news or google search for your destination. Pretty amazing!

It's hard to imagine what it would be like to be chauffeured in that amazing D4 W12. The cabin, and especially the rear seat area, is masterfully elegant.

I'm curious though... what were the reasons for choosing a rear bench as opposed to the individual seats with the rear passenger-side reclining feature? Was is so you could seat a 5th passenger or did the rear bench provide a roomier feel? Maybe other reasons? Prior to my current D3 W12 with individual rear powered seats, I had a D3 4.2 with a rear bench. In retrospect, the rear bench configuration felt roomier though perhaps not as refined looking. Unlike the D3, the D4 rear cabin looks top notch in both configurations.

It looks like the biggest leap forward in D4 is the rear passenger accommodation. The rear moonroof, LED mood lighting, rear massage and ventilation, rear seat entertainment with navigation and multimedia control, all make the D3's systems seem like an afterthought. Not to take away from the driver conveniences which are quite impressive as well (low light/infrared imaging, full stop adaptive cruise, touch interface, voice input, greatly enhanced MMI etc). It is just amazing how much Audi has progressed technologically in the new generation.

We looked at one with the individual rear seats, and while that was truly an impressive setup. It is really based towards having a chauffeur. Once you get that option the front passenger seat goes down to a 10-way adjustment and loses the massager due to the need to fit in the rear ottoman. Not really quite as practical for a car you want to drive yourself. I agree that it certainly looks imposing having the four seater, but it is nice to be able to push the armrest up and have it look more like a normal car and not be drawing so much attention to the back (even if the video screens are still there...)

You're very right the way Audi has integrated all of the systems into the new car is just amazing! You can send destinations from the back screens to the "driver" and there is an iPod/iPhone adapter for the front and then one also for the rear. There are 3 separate DVD drives in this car, and one is a six disc changer!

That is a 2011 S5 Cabriolet, in Deep Sea Blue with Tuscan Brown Interior. The other car in the garage is a 2011 Porsche Cayenne in Jet Green with the Porsche Exclusive Cognac/Espresso Interior. Those are both my maw's cars... Then there's my trusty '03 A4. We only buy German! I'll try to get some more pictures when I'm at home again.

We bought this and all of our other Audi's from Flow Greensboro! Great dealership! As far as price, these run usually about $160k. It drives beautifully, it may resemble a chauffeur car but once you get behind the wheel, it is surprising how well it handles its weight and size!

I mean yes great car but for 150K I would have gotten something more exotic and special not that the W12 isn’t but at the end of the day it’s just a fully loaded A8
