    Is silver a boring color?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I am in the market for a b7 s4 and most of the ones that I am interested in are silver. I've always thought silver was a boring choice for a sports car, but lately the idea has grown on me. I think it would allow for nice color contrast with carbon fiber parts. I know the best response is "go look at them and decide". But just wanted to get thoughts on the s4 in silver.

I have had two silver S4's now and a silver truck... I have always loved silver cars, but recently I wish I had something louder... Like sprint blue or Red. But over all its one of my favorite colors for an S4.

Anyways here's my car, similar theme to what you are thinking.. Car has CF mirrors and B-pillars now. I'll snap more pics if you'd like.

Bud- amazing looking car. I think some of my hesitation is a grass is always greener problem. When I have had red cars I wish they weren't as loud so I would stop getting pulled over, black cars you can't keep clean, silver the car feels understated and I wish I had something loud like red or blue...and so goes the circular logic.

Red is too loud, but silver is too boring (along with ibis imo). Quartz gray is a nice compromise, but I'm bias.

Sprint blue is my favorite though.

I was going for a DG s4 avant and ended up finding and buying a red one. I bought it sight unseen and have always hated red cars but I felt I was getting a 'sports car', so why not.

It has turned out to be my favorite color ever. Audi has great paint and with a tint the red really pops. I feel it is different and better looking than most 'red' cars out there, but i am biased. LOL

Boring is determined by who's judging imo I mean most people consider imola loud but I think it looks proper on B6s. Silver is however common and that makes it less attractive in my eyes. If I could go back I would've looked hard for a noggy or black S as I always get a bit jealous when I see either.

Silver is classy and understated. If you want a car that doesn't attract attention, get silver. If you want something that yells "HOLY SHIT LOOK AT THIS FUCKING CAR" then get yellow blue.

Silver is a boring color in general but there are plenty of great looking silver S4s out there that aren't boring. The thing about silver is few really like it or really dislike it so its a little more difficult to make it stand out. BUD obviously did a great job on his ride. That's pretty much how I'd do a silver one as well. He added a bit of attitude to it while keeping it classy. Red and nog blue tend to turn some people off but there are some that will absolutely drool over it. So, those colors stand out a little more. I think silver tests the owners ability to customize well in order to give the car added aggressiveness.

I was at a Mercedes dealership dropping a friend off and my Sprint Blue S4 was the only car of colour in a sea of Mercs. Every single one of them (over 60 of them) were either black, white or silver. The same goes for most parking lots I go to. I find silver boring but it seems to be the easiest to maintain and go unnoticed by the cops (cause it's boring). Red and yellow were too flashly for my personality so I went with Sprint Blue. I'm sure many silver owners will disagree with me and in the end, there's a choice of colours for that very reason, to each their own. It's such a subjective/personal thing. Most people with silver will say it's not boring and most people who didn't go with silver will say it is. Personally, I think I've only found one silver Audi I liked. Some Avant on this forum that's been shown around a bunch of times.

    Bo-ring.

Especially with the polished aluminum mirrors. They blend right in on a silver S4. I always have to take a second look to see if its an A4 or an S4 with silver cars.

Good sleeper look I guess, but in my city silver is BY FAR the most common color of car.

I think it is some what boring and over used but it does look nice. Not many people hate silver. Its just blah. Its not white nor black. I want a noggy wagon but every time i look at a well done silver b5 s4 wagon i cant help but like it. I like my car, but if it had black interior i would love it. To sum my rant, silver is a great color.

I had a silver b6 before the DG S4 i have now. Silver is a good color if you want to just blend in with every other german car on the road. Dolphin gray is similar in that it does not stand out, but IMO, it is a little more aggressive for a "sports car".

The good: always looks clean unless you just drove through mud, rock ships are invisible
The bad: the bumpers NEVER match because of the way silver changes based on the angle

In my opinion silver is an underrated color for a car. Many people think silver is really boring but when you see a silver car that is awesome looking, people begin to think otherwise haha.

In short there's nothing wrong with having a silver car! The only downside is having parts painted silver. If you ever have to have parts repainted they likely won't match perfectly.

Don't take it personal, I never said black stands out but IMO nothing looks better when its pristine. Black is classy.
Silver is great if you don't like to wash your car often and it hides a lot of imperfections. It's not ugly I just think its a little bland.

Of all the Audi's I've owned (Moro Blue S6, Volcano Black A6, Black TT, Silver A4, Imola S4) I actually think I like silver the best. Silver tends to contrast black really well and show's the curvature of the car better than just about anything.

Silver sucks imo....my last S4 was silver and it was a right price right time scenerio and bought it. Loved the B5 but got bored with the color quick.

Hence why I made a drastic change to a loud awesome color for my next one lol

I had a Nogaro B5 and LOVED that color. Imola is my other favorite color. Before that I was a huge fan of black. Those colors come with a lot of downside though. They do attract attention and they take a lot of work to keep swirls out of them because they show so easily. This is the first silver car I have had. It wasn't my first choice but I just could not pass it up at the price that I got it. The plus side is that its INSANELY easy to keep clean. White shows dark dirt and black shows light dirt. Silver hides both.

Silver is one of the traditional racing colors for Audi and German cars in general. I wish I had silver (I have phantom black).

Have to disagree. White is the color of light and last I checked there isn't much that moves faster than light.

To OP, it really doesn't matter what we think, get a color you like or else you'll regret it eventually. I've seen damn sexy cars in every color, it's all about what you do to it after you get it.
