Is the Jeep Liberty a Girl's Car?

i'm thinking of selling my A4 while it's still worth something. I'd like to get into something similar, but the choices in my price range are kind of slim. i went to a jeep dealer the other day and drove a liberty. it was the renegade trim with full brush guards and it looked pretty damned cool.

it has decent power and seems like it would be capable off road with a few mods. plus it can pull a smallish trailer or boat for camping/fishing.

but some of them on the road look really cutesy girlish. what do you guys think?

    i can't get a wrangler because i need it to seat 5.

id have to say yes, bceause its not so much of a jeep, it cant really do what the other jeeps can, well now the grand is just as bad, but the older jeep grand cherokees are good, and the tj/cj/yj/wrangler are good, as long as u dont get them in yellow. but then again a yellow wrangler with the rubicon package is pretty manly....... eh, just buy a hummer

I saw a nice Silver one with the premium rims the other day and I really liked it. I dont really see them as a girls Jeep, but a Jeep for someone who really isnt into the offroading scene. I would sell my audi for one in a heartbeat. A Libby with a 2.5" lift and 31" tires is pretty decent offroad. The thing that kills it for offroad is the independent front axle. Make sure you get the right color and it wont look girly. I totally say go for it!!!

I agree w/ Live2Ski. The KJ(Libby) is a decent sport ute. Just remember that their target market is those people who would otherwise buy a CR-V or Highlander but don't want to feel like a bitch. If it was me, I'd go for a TJ-U - Wrangler Unlimited(the longer one) I don't see the KJ as girly at all. Go for it, I've been around jeeps for years and they are great vehicles.

i have three kids and a wife, which = 5 when we're all together.

wrangler (even the long one) seats 4. i'd have to strap one of the kids to the tire rack.

Have you looked at Subies? I don't know much about the reliabilty of the outback but that would be something I would look at if I was in you situation. The Legacy's look pretty good to.

Then Wait for the Jeep Commander to come out. That thing is awesome. Search on google for more info. Otherwise, go for the Libby.

I dont think the Liberty is a girls car, although I do see a lot of them driving them, but I think the renegade is a nice option. When I brought my car in for the first service, they gave me a renegade for the day....it was a nice little SUV.

the jeep commander is going to be a fortune. and i'm not so crazy about the nitro...it looks kind of elementish.

subie's not a bad way to go, they're a little more expensive than the liberty (new...chrysler's throwing all kinds of money at you these days).

but thanks for the info and opinions.

maybe i can find a nice allroad out there in great condition...

Um...one thing about The Subi outback and forrester etc...I've never seen a straight(hetero-sexual) person driving one. The 3 women I know who are gay all drive subi wagons. Just an observation.

I have a 2003 Freedom edition Liberty. 5sp,3.7 liter. It came with the graphite 17" wheels and Trakloc. I obviously don't think it is a girls jeep. I think if you buy a limited with the auto in the wrong color the thing looks more inline with say a Mazda Tribute, but my Atlantic Blue one doesn't look like a girls jeep. For hardcore off road the IFS limits the KJ. It does come with a real 4wd low range. You have to realize that the mileage is going to suck. I get about 15 mpg average. I'm sure that I'm some of the reason for it being so bad. I'd buy it again.

    Go get a Subie Forrester!
    That would fit your purpose.

And yes, the Jeep Liberty is a Chick Car!

The Dodge Nitro does look nice
Although this is really sad out of a V6!

    Estimated Performance
    0 - 60: 9.6 seconds
    Standing 1/4 mile: 16.9 seconds
    Top Speed: 108 mph

    http://www.dodge.com/autoshow/nitro/

Now if they should get rid of that ugly looking Durango... they used to be descent looking then they (f)ucked them up.

My Envoy has 275HP inline 6 weighs 5,000lbs and has a 0-60 in 8.0... what's up with Dodge and that dog of a V6? Come on Mopar!
