    Audi died while driving

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Quick question, I.m driving along on the highway and all of a sudden the car slows down and dies. I turn on the ignition, computer says ok, but it would not start. Battery light on as if no power. Alternator died? Is there something I could try, right now I am waiting to see if it would start back in a few minutes after it cools down.
    Thank you

I think its the Crank Position Sensor(CPS) or the Speed sensor. Its the same thing but with different names. Its about $100 give or take at the DEALER ONLY. This happened to be a while back. It takes 30 min to replace but the space that you have is very cramped.

Ok. Update, it starts but when you press the gas pedal it dies again.

When you turn it to the "On" position, can you hear the fuel pump working?

Classic dead fuel pump, if it were a crank sensor you would get a epc light on the dash.

Either fuel pump died or you blew off a boost hose. Unplug the MAF sensor and see it it starts and idles. If it does you have a loose hose. If it acts the same it's probably the fuel pump.

^Or that. Better start counting your pennies. I'm guessing you'll need about 75,000 pennies.

While you are waiting for the tow truck unplug the MAF sensor and see it it runs. Takes all of 30 seconds.

Check to make sure the TPS is plugged in....a loose connection there will do that.

    Cool

x2 on the fuel pump. Exact same thing happened to me and tow expense + 75000 pennies (thankfully extended warranty) later, all good!

Sorry guys, did not get a chance to reply. Towing came and I dropped it over at VW. Tomorrow morning when they open I'll see what the damage $ will be. I am thinking pump also, I don't hear it anymore when I put the ignition on. Hoping it's the fuse or relay or something else cheap. Anyway , will see.
    Thank's
