hey guys.. omin over from the b6 side... my dad has a 07 d3 s8, and has been getting a CEL on and off for a little while now. Finally VAG'd the car. This is the code that was popped..

    1 Fault Found:

008753 - Oxygen (Lambda) Sensor B1 S1: Signal Shorted to Heater Circuit
    P2231 - 004 - No Signal/Communication - Intermittent - MIL ON

any ideas on a solution? could it be just an o2 sensor gone bad

    Thanks in adavance guys!!

99% of the time, it IS the sensor itself...rarely EVER a wiring problem. With that code, replacement of the sensor will likely fix it.

How many miles on the car?

That's the front right 02 sensor (passenger's side), mounted on the rear half (cylinders 4 & 5) of the 2 piece exhaust manifold, at the expansion chamber, just before the connection to the down pipe.

I believe he has 52500 or so. We have a lift in our shop, so I'll throw it up there and see how accessible that sensor is.

Just looked at the drawings again, there are 2 cats (not expansion chambers, sorry) on each side integral with the 2 piece exhaust manifolds (headers)...each one has an 02 sensor on the engine side of each converter...I'm assuming the one I described is #1 (closest to the engine), but could be either one before cat(?). The cylinder 1-2-3 sensor looks accessible from under the car, but the 4-5 sensors looks a little farther up there (maybe engine bay access(?)

Sorry for the vagueness...never been under the hood of a V10...just got drawings. That code doesn't readily tell me which sensor, but has to be one of the 2 on passenger side, before each cat.

The V10 seems to have a total of 8 02 sensors...4 befores and 4 afters.

Wow. Thanks for the info! Just doing oil changes and stuff with him, I can tell they are jammed in there. Should be pretty interesting to see how to get to them.

Not to be too big of pain but do your drawings tell what the part number is for the sensor? If not I can always give a call down to one of the semi-local stealerships.

Thanks again for all the great insight!

For some reason, the ETKA drawings don't list a part # for em. Don't know if the link below shows the ETKA drawing...not sure how to post photo on this format.

This place carries em and has Bosch part #'s...the way I'd go...no way I'd get em at the dealer.

Maybe I'm missing something here, but wouldn't the 8/80 Federal Emissions warranty cover replacement?

hate to bump and revive this post but what was the verdict? Were the sensors accessible with a lift from below?
