Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Hi, does anyone know if retrofitting convenience key access and keyless start is possible? If so, does anyone know the correct part numbers for a S5 Sportback?

It is possible, I am looking at doing the push to start on my B8 A4. You most likely need a new center console MMI control panel with the push to start button, those are between $250 and $400 USD on eBay if you can find them. You then probably need a new module, I think it is the comfort control module which is what I am looking at now.
It is possible, but could theoretically cost $1,000 or more. I am weight the possibility of an aftermarket system which would only cost me about $250, so not sure it is worth it.

4 door sensors and wiring (you can reuse the door handles)
    3 antenna modules and wiring
    1 console trim panel
1 push to start button and wiring
1 BCM possibly if your current module doesn't support Keyless entry
2 Most likely 2 New remotes
1 Trip to the dealer to adapt modules and remotes.

    New approx $2000
    Ebay maybe $1000

Wiring a good day to run all the wiring to the BCM in the rear of the car.

Not a bad find, but still need a different center console panel if you have MMI3g and they sell the panel, but it would add another $200 or so to the price. Now if you can negotiate with them to swap the panel, might not be a bad deal.

Wow! Thanks for the lead. I can't read Chinese though. My S5 Sportback comes with MMI 3G, which one should I purchase?

Also, I imported the car myself and dealer won't help. How else can I adapt it? VAG-Com cable? And what about keys? How do I get new keys?

For the Chinese, if you use Google Chrome, it will auto translate it for you.
As for the dealer issue, I know Singapore is small, is there mroe than one dealer? If not, that is going to be a problem. I think they need the car and keys to code the new keys. They won't do it for a fee?

I've never purchased anything from them but if you want to do it right, contact DavidB8 and he'll help you out. He is putting together a kit for me as we speak. His kit will include everything you need down to the smallest detail. Besides, you'll be able rely on his expertise for advice in regards to the installation. Keys are not included as you'll have to get it from the dealer.

As for the price, it might not be as cheap as the Chinese kit but his items come from Germany and he tests them out personally before sending it out. I'll let him chime in on the price but it's not far away.

Well the kit has been installed but there is one little problem that we are still working on right now. The start/stop button works fine without having to insert the key in the ignition. However the door sensor/keyless entry that locks/unlocks the door is not working as expected. Am still trying to find out if it is a wiring problem or something else.

DavidB8 will be back in town somewhere near the end of Jan so with his help I'm certain it will be sorted out by mid Feb latest. Of course I hope to get it done before Jan. It's a long shot but I'm also taking my car in next Wednesday to see if the dealer can find anything.

Anyway I see that you are in Singapore and I will be visiting in mid Feb. I can do you a favour and help bring the kit there for free if you are getting your kit from DavidB8. That'll help you save on shipping. I can even help you with the installation for a day or so, but of course I want to get mine fully working before I can help someone else. PM me if you need help.

I just read that your dealer is not that helpful so just for your info, you definitely need to visit your dealer for this mod. You need them to swap your BCM module and also adapt your keys.

However, you might be in luck if your BCM module is of the correct revision so you won't need to do that. The same follows for your key. You'll need to check your key for the part number.

Your dealer will definitely be able to order and adapt a new key for you. As for the BCM swap, you'll have to check with them. It should be of no problem if my dealer can do it. They'll just have to connect and follow the instructions. But you will need DavidB8 as a backup after the swap if your dealer forgets to code your lights/module properly after the swap. That was what happened with my dealer. No worries about that though as DavidB8 can help you correct everything.

That's great!!! Let me know how you go! In the meantime ill see if I can find another local Audi specialized workshop that can swap the bcm unit and do the key adaptation for me instead of the dealership here.

By the way, how much is the entire kit?

    Thanks heaps!

I might be wrong but the dealer might be your only hope. But it never hurts to check. As for the price of the kit, please contact Davidb8. Also I realized you have a sportback so you'll need more sensors/ antennas than me so it might cost a little more. Will require a little more work to get the wiring done too! But it will be worth it! If you need help, I'll try to help out as best I can when I'm there.

I have exactly the same problem in my A5 Sportback 2012. I have installed the 3 antenna, the 4 door sensors, the start/stop bottom, new key and new comfort module (46). The start/stop Works (Keyless Go) and the door sensors signal is ok but the locks/unlocks does not Work (keyless entry). I can understand that the problem is setting up the comfort module (46), not coding or adapting but something else. Can you help?

I have tried retrofitting kessy in 2017 (this year) to my Audi Q5 2009 8R thus purchased and installed after my retrofit a new advanced key and a new comfort module. Start stop button works fine. Keyless entry does not work. I have installed 4 used antennas and 4 Chinese sensors. Dealer coded the new control module and key. I have no DTCs. I am not sure if my car recognizes the 2 door antennas because when I have tried to test the keyless I had no option for door antennas. Anyone who succeeded?? The doors were coded correctly with VCDs.

I have suceessfully activated my keyless entry.
There are only 2 methods of activation.
    1. VCP diagnostic
    2. SRT can-connect program with obdlink-SX cable.

I used 2 method and my comfort module was flashed in 5 seconds with the missing keyless entry parameter. It is really simple, unlike the first option which is complex.

Before activating keyless entry only start stop button was activated after audi programming of new advance key and changing my comfort module to one that supports keyless, however keyless entry parameter only gets activated online if car is sold with keyless entry. Otherwise Audi does not flash this parameter to comfort unit. My new comfort unit 8K0907064CQ supports keyless but Audi online system did not flash this parameter when actual/ spec comparison during convenience unit change since car was sold without one e.g. since everything was retrofitted.

For coding I used VCDs, however keyless entry could not get activated. After comfort unit/immobilizer flash (with second method above) keyless entry parameter was added to immobilizer control unit 05 (which is part of comfort unit).

I spent days to find a solution and finally success. Audi service spent 2 hours to find my mistake, so charged me in addition 150 euros because they do not know that Audi Germany online system disables this function in comfort modules for B8 cars which were sold without this option. You have been warned. Do not let them check for a mistake of your retrofit. It is their online system punishing us. Audi service cannot add this parameter with their diagnostic Odis-S.

    Good luck.

Another bump up... Looking to just add the push button start on my 2013 a5... anybody know the minimum parts I would need to get this working?
I know I need the actual shifter plate with the push button start
I need a new key ( right?? or could I use my old key)??
The new CCM ( any one know the part number I would need?)
Would I need sensors and antennae for just the push button start?
Any help or someone that knows more would be extremely helpful.

My old a5 had the push button start and I really miss it.
    Thanks
