I just can't help it , but I have to ask...Why are you doing that? The factory setup, has proven to be very efficient...

No, you won't feel anything. However your wallet dyno will say, "whoa dude" did you feel that? I felt that, where is that dude in the prius at now?

K&N and Carbonio Cold Air Intake don't help you, some have reported a loss in performance; like ING Direct says: "save your money".

at the end of the day it's just an air filter dont expect to feel a big difference, the biggest difference with me it's the smoothness ! , less hesitation, the car its more enjoyable to drive ;-)

on the A4 turbo , these things usually turn out to me more of a hot air intake because of the ambient heat. AEF makes a really great flowing dry filter that fits in the stock box, and that maybe a better option.

If you want to get that intake sound just buy a cone filter and put it on your Maf. That should keep you happy and save you $100.

so the best thing to do is put a cone filter, and make a heatshield?

Thats what I did. The stock airbox works great but it's huge and (IMO) a PITA. There is no reason to spend money on a setup like the ones in the OP except for looks.

I feel ya, it looks like a fun DIY, for this weekend here is my Stock Setup

What i find is that i remove the whole housing and connect the cone to the black hose that has the clamp on it, is it that easy? or am i missing something like where all the sensor wires go?

OKay, I will explain turbocharged car basics here:

The reason your "turbo" gives your engine more power is because the air is PRESSURIZED (aka, more air to blow up/combust therefore more power), and very DENSE. Cold air is dense. Hot air isn't as dense. There are two simple equations for this actually! (PV=nRT, Q=mCdeltaT)
Believe it or not, the audi engineers made sure the air going into the engine was as COLD as possible. That is why it is intaking air from an external system (atmosphere, not a hot engine bay) and then subsequently combusting it and throwing it back out through the exhaust pipes. It is the most efficient way of combusting the air fuel mixture! K&N "cold air intake" i guarantee will intake hotter air than the stock setup. The only reason to use an intake like that is if your are space restricted (aka very big turbo.)

Edit: I lied, actually you'll probably use enthalpy to calculate the difference in PE between a cold air intake and hot air intake.

    dU = TdS − pdV
    Yay partial derivatives!
I are an engineer. I like make cars. i speak to english good. engineer don't need to good be talk. because race car.

so i should just leave it as is then... and just drop a normal k&n filter, any other cheap options to increase some throttle response

Why not just get yourself a tune? I'm assuming you are completely stock, and as such a tune is one of the best ways to gain some power. Search around to find out what dealers are in your area, think about where you want to go with your car (aka how much performance to you want in the long run), and make a decision from there. You can pick up some injectors fairly "cheap" in the classifieds usually as well, but you want to pair them to a tune. Example APR 1+ and i think 2+ uses TT225 injectors.

Yes, you will go from 0 to a numpty in 3 seconds!! Also top speed will raise to 1000,000 mph lol;) Keep your stock air box, put a K&N panel filter in job done!! Spend your hard earned cash on something useful! (manifold, bigger injectors, big turbo, fmic you get the picture waste of money.

Sorry didn't realise if your not already!! Go stage 1, 1+ ect you will feel night and day differences;) good luck!!

listen... you are always going to have hundreds of people on this site with different opinions.. this airbox/intake imo has been the most repetitive.. whether you use the factory air box, cone filter clamped to TIP, or aftermarket CAI, after a few hard pulls in the blistering summer heat, you will suffer somewhat of a loss due to heatsoak... you should mod the way u want to mod not the way everyone tells you.. ive switched my set up from airbox to cone filter a dozen times.. not much of a difference honestly besides sound.. the cone filter allows you to hear the turbo spool a bit more thats it.. you however will want to fab u up a heat shield with the cone and place it in between turbo/cat and air filter whatever you do... it gets hot as fuck.. cone filters cost you like 50 bucks for a good one (AEM, K&N, etc). get one if you dont like it stick the airbox back in.. very easy DIY.. goodluck

as for what buddy said above me, yes get a tune you will be much happier with ur ride
