The Drive Auto Works team is enjoying this unseasonably warm Monday - it's always nice when you can have the bay doors open in November!

The TTRS is back in the shop for some shifter upgrades - the BBS wheels look great on this car.







This B8 A4 2.0T came in for an 034 Motorsports Valve Cover Breather Adapter and Catch Can setup. This is a slick setup that eliminates the failure-prone factory oil separator and PCV system, and eliminates the breather provision on the intake manifold, removing a common source for a boost leak, and preventing oil from entering the intake manifold and contributing to carbon buildup. Plus, it looks awesome.

Subaru WRX STI in for some freshly powdercoated Rays wheels and new Bridgestone tires using our top of the line Corghi mounting equipment.







One of our customers brought his TT in for some winter prep. Over the summer, we upgraded the car to an APR GTX turbo kit, with a fully built (upper and bottom end) motor, VWR big brake kit, and KW coil overs. This car is a beast, and a sleeper.

And last but not least, our new (but old) shop truck. Basic, a little rusty, and nothing fancy, but it'll get the job done! Comes with the rare 7-lug extra payload package.

We went from nearly 70* yesterday, to predictions for snow tomorrow, which will surely throw a wrench in many people's Thanksgiving travel plans. Gotta love the Northeast! As a scheduling note, Drive Auto Works will be CLOSED on Thursday, 27 November (Thanksgiving), but will be open at our usual hours on Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday. That being said, on to the updates!

B7 RS4 stopped by for a carbon cleaning. The Drive Auto Works team made quick work of the buildup, and the owner is now enjoying more power!





Several weeks back, we posted pictures of a black allroad, sitting low and clean. Today, we give you a bit of the build that got it there. It came in with a leak-riddled air suspension, worn out control arms, and a host of other problems. It was looking quite tired.







We pulled the air suspension out, and ordered up some KW V2's.









Ordered up a set of 20" Rohanna's and some tires...





…and after a boatload of other maintenance, she was cleaned up and looking pretty.







Lastly, a customer dropped off a set of B7 RS4 wheels to be repaired, powder coated, and have snow tires mounted. Just in time!

This white C7 A7 dropped by for some winter maintenance and to correct an alignment done by another shop.





This TT was dropped off to replace a leaking oil pan gasket, which was noticed after a fresh oil change was performed by the dealer.

Busy, busy week - lots of people taking advantage of the Toys for Tots Black Friday promotion!

An APR Supercharger kit we installed earlier in the year for one of our RS4 customers. We're starting to lose track of how many of these we've done!









Our customer brought his B8 S4 in for a rotor ring replacement for his Brembo BBK. As you can see from the pictures, the ring was starting to crack around the drilled holes. Kevin broke the kit apart, installed new rings and hardware, and buttoned him back up in time for him to make it to the track!

We pulled our shop truck in on our lunch break to install a remote start and a new head unit.

Another chilly, wet week here in New Jersey, and we have a steady stream of people coming in for some winter related maintenance.

To start off, this B6 A4 is in the shop for a new alternator.





This owner brought us his beautiful 2008 Porsche 997 Turbo for a new clutch and some other maintenance. From this angle, the 997 looks like its smiling!





Continuing the Porsche party, we finished up some minor work on this 1986 Porsche 911 Targa 3.2 5-speed in preparation for its trip to its new owner in Miami. Great little car going to a good home, and freshly detailed to boot! We hope we get to see more of these soon!

Drive Auto Works is kicking it into high gear, literally.

Most of you know our 6MT, 600hp Audi allroad shop car - its finally making its way into a bay for a long overdue transmission rebuild! We're going through the entire trans and rebuilding it with components from our friends over at JHM - now the trans will be able to hold the power! The Drive Auto Works team has been cranking away over the holidays - no rest for the weary! We're on track to have a strong finish to 2014, and we're looking forward to seeing what 2015 brings! First up, we have a Volkswagen MkIV Jetta VR6 in for an engine replacement. We made quick work of the swap, and are buttoning the car up this afternoon!

It's another busy day at the shop!





The MkIV Jetta VR6 engine swap is getting buttoned up and ready for its road test!







A customer stopped by and asked us to investigate a strong smell inside his MkIV Jetta. After looking around, we identified the problem as a broken breather hose which had been previously patched using electrical tape, had come apart, and was expelling fumes directly into the vent for the HVAC. We grabbed a new breather hose, installed it in the parking lot so that he didn't have to wait for an open lift, and sent him on his way. He was very happy we could fix the issue quickly and on the spot!

We're finishing off the year on a high note. With 2014 coming to a close, the team at Drive Auto Works would like to take this opportunity to thank all of our customers for the support this year. It was a big year for us - we marked the first year in our larger Clifton location, opened up our second location in Mountainside to help cater to our CNJ/SNJ/PA customers, tuned a countless number of cars, installed dozens and dozens of turbo kits - and much more. As we turn the page into 2015, we'll be celebrating our 5th Anniversary in the spring, and have a lot of things in store, including our Mountainside Grand Opening BBQ (which is, obviously, a bit delayed). We look forward to another year of helping cars run at their peak, making cars faster, and being the go-to shop in the Tristate area for your German car. We wish everyone a safe, happy, healthy, and prosperous New Year!

The RS6 is about ready to receive its thoroughly tuned up motor.









This B6 S4 was brought in for, you guessed it, timing chain tensioner replacement! We'll be working with the customers aftermarket warranty company to cover the repairs!







We also rolled this C5 A6 2.7T donor car in to the shop to pull its engine and manual transmission. The trans will be rebuilt and swapped into an automatic B5 S4 which suffered a transmission failure.

Happy New Year to all! We're kicking off 2015 in high gear, with some nice German muscle.

Motor is back in the RS6, and it's ready for the final touches (silicone hoses, new fan). We have two more RS6's outside waiting for various improvements, so it's going to be an RS-y kind of week!





Porsche 997 Turbo stopped by for installation of a Christmas present - H&R sway bars! As good as the 997 chassis handles out of the box, the H&R sways make a noticeable improvement.





Our 600hp shop allroad is out of the cold getting its newly rebuilt transmission installed. We built it with JHM components, so it's now up to handling all the power! Can't wait to drive it again!

The week is moving right along at Drive Auto Works. We've been busy with a lot of customers taking advantage of the final days of the APR sale - lots of flashes and intakes over the past few days!

Work is wrapping up on the RS6. Car is going back together, new silicone hoses are being installed, and the car will be road tested. Best of all, we worked with the customers extended warranty company on this one!









This incredible looking Audi RS7 popped in the shop for some Eurocode sway bars and adjustable end links.





This Audi B6 A4 1.8T came by for some scheduled service and a new lower coolant temperature sensor. Give the Drive Auto Works team with any of your maintenance needs - we can accomplish most tasks while you wait!







The 2.7T engine and 6MT trans are out of our A6 donor car! The trans will be rebuilt using JHM components for another one of our customers, while the motor is wrapped and tucked away for another day.

It's been about a week since our last update, but we've been cranking away. Here's a quick recap!

B7 A4 2.0T in for a sizable valve cover gasket leak.









Pulled this Nogaro B5 S4 automatic in so we can pull the trans. It will be getting a (re)built 6-speed swap using the trans from our donor A6 and a whole bunch of JHM goodies. This will be a fun project - stay tuned!





1985 Porsche 911 in for some maintenance. The gauges from the air-cooled Porsches are so elegant.







Audi D3 S8 in for a massive oil leak from its Lamborghini-derived V10. Also performed a carbon buildup cleaning on this beast, and now it's running tip-top.





Super clean Toyota MRS Turbo dropped by for some maintenance. You don't see these around that frequently!





Last but certainly not least, Kevin is finishing up the timing chain job on the Audi B6 S4 cabriolet - we're averaging one V8 timing chain job per week, per location. We worked with the customer's warranty company to get the bulk of the bill covered. Remember, if you need your timing chains repaired, no other shop in the area does more or handles more claims than Drive Auto Works!

After a disappointing snowfall, the crew is back at work. The guys stayed late Monday night so they could finish a few extra to-dos and get cars back to their customers before the snow fell. B8 A4 2.0T in for a timing job, with new timing covers and seals (the old ones were leaking badly)!





This VW owner stopped by a few weeks after the dealer completed their 30k mile service, and showed us a leak forming on the A-pillar. We investigated, and found this clogged drain, which the dealer missed/didn't clean. Had the owner let this go much longer, or not seen the initial signs, there could have been a large scale water intrusion.





Finishing out the week with another trans rebuild. These are starting to rival 4.2 timing chain tensioners in frequency! If you need a trans rebuild, give us a call, and we'll get you back on the road.

We started a nice project the other day - a full engine rebuild for this B7 A4 2.0T. The customer opted for a set of APR rods and pistons to beef everything up. We're looking forward to this one!





A customer stopped by with his 2012 VW B7 Passat TDI for an APR tune. APR is one of the few companies who offers TDI tunes, and it makes a great improvement in performance!

Another busy week at the shops, and anxiously counting down the days until spring!

Work continues on the Audi A4 2.0T motor build. Front end is disassembled, with accessories unbolted, and the head is off.













A customer brought us this 2006 VW Passat 2.0T, showing symptoms of a failing turbocharger. They obtained quotes from the dealership and several other independent shops, and decided to entrust it to our capable hands. The Passat will have a new turbo installed in no time!

We're closing in on the weekend, and we've had a variety of cool cars roll through the shop this week.

This W219 Mercedes CLS55 AMG dropped by for a throttle adjustment and a retune with some Eurocharged goodness.





This C7 A6 3.0T rolled in for an APR Supercharger Pulley upgrade and some new 50% window tint. It's a little known fact, but we offer reasonably priced window tinting, painless dent removal, and detailing services for our customers while their cars are at the shop. This super clean (figuratively, and literally!) E93 BMW 335i stopped by for a Burger Tuning (BMS) ECU upgrade. The owner is now enjoying a significantly increased level of performance from his N55!





Work on the Audi A4 2.0T engine build continues. The customer went with oversize APR pistons, APR connecting rods, and ARP head studs, plus new seals, hardware, etc. It will be all set for it's big turbo upgrade down the line!

Setting up this Ohlins suspension for one of our customers Audi B5 S4. The Ohlins suspension is fantastic, but requires periodic rebuilds. If your suspension is showing signs of needing a rebuild, give us a call and let us take care of having them rebuilt and reinstalled for you.





Work is progressing on the B7 motor build. We got the block back form the machine shop, bored and honed to accept the oversize APR pistons. Can't wait to get this reassembled!

Happy Tuesday! As we roar into March, eagerly anticipating warmer weather, we have a small sampling of what we've been working on at the shops.

First up, another Audi B6 S4 4.2 timing chain tensioner replacement. If your car is starting to exhibit symptoms, give us a call before its too late!





A customer brought us his new Audi SQ5 (which was remarkably clean considering all the salt and filth on the roads). We flashed the SUV with an APR tune, installed an upgraded APR pulley, ordered and installed a matte grey set of 20" Vossen VPS wheels, and mounted them with a set of Pirelli Scorpion Ice & Snow tires. A quick, multi-marque update as we dig out of yet another snow storm. Our little Bobcat has been earning its keep clearing the lot!

First up is this clean 957 Porsche Cayenne S in for some regularly scheduled service. Maintaining a German car doesn't have to be expensive or arduous - Drive Auto Works is the leading dealer alternative in the Tri-State area.





Another MkVII VW GTI in the shop (check our Facebook/Instagram page for the other) - this one is in for a new Magnaflow catback exhaust system. Sounds terrific!





The Audi B7 A4 2.0T engine build is nearing its final stages. In goes an AWE front mount intercooler in preparation for a bigger turbo down the road! Just as we finish this, we'll be starting another built 2.0T - this one for a MkVI GTI.

It's been another busy week at Drive Auto Works. First out of the gate is the incredible amount of cars that came in for APR's 2.0T software update. As a reminder (or in case you didn't know), unlike most of the other shops in the area, we DO NOT charge a labor fee for any software flashes (or update flashes)!

APR's new addition to their facility is incredible - lots of good things will be coming out of here in short order!





After the APR conference, we attended a vinyl wrapping school with instruction from Avery Dennison and The Wrap Institute. Nothing like learning from the best in the business. And you know what this means - Drive Auto Works will soon be offering vinyl wrapping services! Just one more reason Drive Auto Works should be your first, last, and only call for anything car related in the Tristate area!





Back at the shop, this VW CC came in for another round of mods - this time for installation of an OEM BBK - TT-RS brakes!
