Is this expensive, and would it wreck the car?

    Thanks

Retrofitting OEM parking sensors will be more expensive than the aftermarket ones but it is worth every penny. The sensors are flush with the bumper and does not protrude like the aftermarket sensors and it is fully integrated within the MMI.

I just finished fitting the rear parking sensors and if you don't mind doing the wiring by yourself, then it would be cheaper. Also, if you don't want to drill holes in your existing bumper, you are looking at a new bumper, 4xsensors, control module, sensor harness, central electric harness, buzzer, 1 control module bracket to hold the control module and a whole lot of time.

There are some parts which you can source from ebay and that will save you a LOT of money.

I can help with the rear sensor retrofit if you need any. As for the backup camera, maybe someone else can chime in. But as far as I know, it's not going to be cheap.

Also, there is an aftermarket parking sensor set that Audi offers as part of their genuine accessories. Be aware that this is different from the factory installed system and will mostly likely be cheaper but I think the sensors do not line up flush with the bumper.

argh, maybe I should just avoid the rear backup camera altogether since it sounds like so much work. I bought a 2010 A5 Prestige and the seller mistakenly advertised there as being backup camera but I found out on Google later that backup camera doesn't exist on this model. Stupid Audi decided to mix and match such that even the Prestige trim didn't have all the bells and whistles

but how are you installing the backup camera? Won't it cost a lot of $? Are you getting a simple OEM installation? (do they look ugly on the car?)
