    Hi everybody,

I have a problem on my CVT multitronic transmission. My gear selector on my dashboard is flashing and the engine not operates well.
When I select the R gear the car don't move.
I have vagged (VCDS) the car and the guy told me I have this problem:
17090 - Transmission Range Sensor (F125): Implausible Signal
17091 P0707 Transmission Range Sensor Circuit - Low Input D

I have problems with my sensors...do u know to fix it?
Should I replace the gearbox Multitronic Control Unit? I noticed 7 sensors there. How much it costs???

    PLEASE HELP ME!

    All the best

The multifunction switch is part of the TCM in CVT's. You will need to replace the whole TCM. It'll run you about $2000 (parts + labor)

Yep, it's the TCM and yes it's expensive. I was lucky and found a thread on here about California cars getting it fixed under an extended warranty because of some California emissions law so mine was fixed for free after minimal hassle with Audi. Being you live in Africa I doubt yours is a California car though lol.

Also, try not to drive it any longer, as the more you drive it the more it screws up the transmission. It sounds like you may have already since the car wont move when selecting Reverse, that is one of the symptoms.

Audi should step up by now and cover it on all cars not just California ones. This issue comes up almost daily.

    Good luck!

The F125 is the Multi-function Switch also called the Neutral Safety switch. It's an easy install but an expensive part. Click below.

    http://www.ecstuning.com/Search/01V919821B/

Here are codes when hte switch fails.

    P0706 / 17090 - Transmission Range Sensor Circuit Range/Performance
    P0707 / 17091 - Transmission Range Sensor Circuit Low
17090 - Transmission Range Sensor (F125): Implausible Signal

    Possible Causes
Failed Multi-Function Transmission Range Switch (F125)
Wiring harness issue between F125 and TCM
    Failed TCM

    Possible Solutions
Inspect wiring harness between F125 and TCM, repair as needed
Replace Multi-Function Transmission Range Switch (F125)
    Replace TCM

This is located on top side of the tranny on the drivers side. The switch is exposed to a lot of road grime and can cause the switch to fail over time.

I would look at F125 switch before looking at the TCM.
