Curb Rash on Titanium Wheels, Dealer wants to replace rim ?

I was exiting a parking lot and the front passenger side wheel got scraped !

I usually park 10" from the curb just to avoid rash but I never thought I would drive so close to a curb !!!!

Its not bad but I want my car to look perfect. Anyways, I contacted the body shop and they say I have to replace the rim cos its a 'Special Rim'...

I am sure there are other ways to take care of this.. Any suggestions guys ?

I havent got a quote yet but my research shows they are $470 !

Let's see a picture. I can tell you if it's fixable or not. You might be pleasantly surprised to find someone who can repair it for a reasonable price. I've had good luck calling around to the luxury car dealers in my area and asking who they use for wheel repairs. It's a pretty standard practice when they get a used car with curb rashes and want to "pretty it up" for the next buyer.

The polished finish is tough to fix though. You'll be wheel-less for at least an afternoon. Repairing it may involve removing your tire. We've got a guy that does wheel repair that could do it but he's well....here and you're there.

I had a 'hit and run' a month ago which is not fixable ! Its half inch crease dent on the wheel arch. Audi couldnot fix it 100% and I barely recovered from that, now a brand new scrape on the wheel

!!!

@Blake: I will post the pics in the evening..

@AofC_RR: The body shop asked me to replace so I asked the Sr. sales guy if I had any other options. He was talking about his wheel guy who might be able to fix it. I hope he fixes it !

Not sure where you are researching, double that and you are at Dealer new. Used is your only hope for that price. Here is the part number 8K0 071 499 4EE

Now if someone really wanted these, there is a set of 4 brand new on eBay for $1500 which is about 50% off. Hate to know the shipping though.

Quick researched on google !! dude, those rims dont like they are real. The OEM's have a small triangle at the end of each rotor. But these have half the rotor polished !

Update: The dealer had a rim repair guy who visits only on Thursdays ! Lucky me, he was at Audi today and he quoted me ..drum roll..........$60 to fix it ! I just dropped of my car and will be picking up later this evening. And the dealer was kind enough to lend me Audi Q5 !

I am actually impressed with these guys. He didn't try to rip me off on dents and dings or tire and rim package. I got more than what I asked for. He negotiated in a very friendly manner when I bought the car.

Everything they sell is real. They are a dealer over stock seller. I have ordered a ton of stuff from them and everything is Authentic VAG. There must be more than one version of that rim. or may you have knock offs :)

Yeah looks like a different rim, so maybe they have more than 1 titanium style rim.

You are correct, they do. They have the titanium package wheels that the op has. These are the wheels with the small machined triangle on each spoke and the machined rim around the wheel. The wheels David posted are another wheel audi makes. They are advertised in the parts catalog. Both are OEM wheels.

Sorry guys I was in a hurry and didnot click pictures of 'Before'. The guy who fixed my rim did an excellent job and clear coated it. Apart from some chemicals on my tire where the rim was fixed, I have no other proof of rim damage ! He fixed it in 1 hr. And I have a pic of my dent 'after' pic...Its not perfect !
