simple question, i fitting my a4 with the b6 passat roof rack, now im looking to get a fairing for it as my sun roof is useless when i drive because of the annoying howling. so i figure a fairing is in need. im not sure which to get, and if they will fit. im looking at thule 872xt and yakima 7048. but im not sure if they mount to the stock square bars of the passat kit. anyone know or have fitted a fairing to the passat roof rack?

You can rig it up and make it wort of work, but you may be limited on what rack attachments you can mount, since the fairing can get in the way. I had a Thule fairing on a Yakima rack, it didn't work well. Eventually got the right fairing and it helped alot.

theres different attachment hardware made for different base bars. you would most likely have to custom mount the fairing on the passat rack if the base bars are similar to the oem audi one.

heres the diy for mounting a thule fairing on oem base bars which is what i did. you can do your own variation but it gives you an idea of what you need to do to mount it. http://forums.vwvortex.com/showthrea...tex-Roof-Racks

You have to custom mount it. No choice. Just buy any fairing that is as wide as the rack and bend some metal so you can screw it into the bottom of the front roof rack bar.

I have an old style yakima one. It was really cheap so i got it, cut it to the right width, and bent some strips of sheet metal and screwed one end to the rack, and one end to the fairing.
