convert spedometer from miles to kms

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
i resently imported a 2009 audi cabriolet from the usa to canada and absolutly love the car except for the fact that the spedometer is in mph . i was woundering if there is a way to do the conversion to kms with out changing the whole speedo , at first glance it would look like i could just change the facia of the speedometer but i doubt its that easy . also when i tried my friends 2011 gti the display in between the rpms and speedo had the possibility of showing live speed so i figured that would be fine for me but i checked every possible setting in the menu of my a4 and was not able to get live speed , only an average speed

    any help would be appreciated

Your speedometer shows MPH and km/h at the same time..

You could take the cluster apart and replace the facia but you will need a custom one as the canadian ones speed markers are at different points, thus a canadian facia would indicate an incorrect speed

I think hes talking about the dials themselves, and yes it can be changed. I'm not sure where you could get the piece. But the face plate for the speed/tach/warning lights can be easily swapped out. Check out the 4th pic in this post

New KPH face is needed and speedo value (cluster EEPROM) re calibrated to match the new face... That's all. Specific tools are needed to read and re write/modify EEPROM values associated with speedo values.

Odometer and info display can be easily changed to Km/metric with VagCom.

Here is what you would need, but from cabriolet, which might or might not be interchangeable with B7 sedan Bosch RB4/RB8 instrument cluster... Here is one example, but obviously not the part you need:

Also, you might not have much luck finding just the dials and have to pick up a complete used KPH cluster for part swap or complete cluster swap.

    Hope this helps.
