Please help!! N249 valve or n112?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
    Hi

Today I was changing my crankcase breather hose from the oil filter bracket, and removed my intake manifold to do this. unfortunately I have snapped a little plastic nipple off the first black valve closest to the front of the car under the intake manifold attached to a metal plate I have narrowed it down to either the n249 or n112 valve but didnt know which one it was!! I managed to glue it back on but I doubt it will last long in a hot engine bay. I have tried to follow the hose that was on it and it goes along the front of the timing belt cover and down in to a metal can near the diverter valve!
    My car is an a4 b6 1.8t (163) BFB.
Please can someone tell me if this is important? or not? so I can stop stressing over it!

    Thanks Liam

Pain in the backside down there!! I also didn't have a hose clip small enough and didn't want to risk putting the one time clamp back on and snapping it again!:(
Any ideas what that vale is and whether I'll be losing boost if it does pop off?

    Thanks liam

That would be your N249 valve. It operates the DV. Just run the line directly from the DV to the nipple on the outer corner of the intake manifold for now and you will be fine. Be sure to plug off the vacuum supply that attaches to the N249 so you can retain the vacuum signal to the N112. You can then take your time replacing the N249 or just leave it out of the circuit as many other do. Personally I have tried it both ways and prefer it functioning.

But I am sure I have followed this hose and it goes to a metal can looking thing next to the dv?
Also if I was to put it on the nipple on the Im what would I do with the hose that is already In that place?
Thanks for your help, it is very much appreciated!

Currently you should have a line running from the manifold nipple to the N249. Then another hose running from the N249, across the front of the motor and connecting to the Diverter valve. You can disconnect the line running across the front of the motor from the N249 end and connect it to the nipple. Just disconnect the line currently hooked to the nipple and running to the N249 and leave it hanging or remove it altogether. Doesn't really matter.
When you had the manifold off I sure you noticed an "F" shaped hose that supplies vacuum to both the N249 and the N112. You will need to plug the end of the "F" hose that connected to the N249 to prevent a vacuum leak.

I happened to have some pics of this stuff, so I thought I'd share. N249 is on the left (3 ports), and N112 is on the right (2 ports and 1 vent to Atmosphere):

The second photo shows the popular method for "deleting" the N249 from the system. You just loop the lines. One of the nipples is broken, so you would use the method that Old Guy described: removing all the hoses from the n249 and blocking off the vacuum input (the black "F" hose).
