Are you talking about the OEM LED tails? Im assuming you already know you can retro-fit the facelift model's taillamps to pre 09 models. Details are involved, but not difficult, just finding a set at reasonable price.

Or does he have an entirely different tails?

No I know I can put 09+ tails in my car. I say I wish I had them because it's just a matter of money haha
