CLOSE FUEL TANK CAP! -wtf?

I just got this warning message this afternoon (see pic below). I quickly pulled over, and my metal gas door was shut fine. I opened it, and clicked the gas cap a few extra times. I still had the warning message on my dash for probably 10 more miles, then it randomly went away. Wtf? Any ideas as to why I got this message?

The person who filled you up prolly never clicked it and it was pulling in air not creating the vacuum it normally has once it equated it went away. Always listen for atleast 2-3 clicks.

probably just a sensor bug. See if it comes back, if not I wouldn't worry too much about it.

I filled up my car myself, and I always click at least three times. In New Hampshire, most people fill up their cars with gasoline themselves. I know NJ has that law where you have to get "full-service," but just letting you know haha.

Yea I noticed your sig when I posted. I actually hate to let them do it. I try to always do it myself(Learned in Md its simpler than waiting on 1 guy attending 5 cars). But maybe get a pressure check on the cap then. I know on my truck it happened and I knew I filled it properly and the changed everything just to realize the cap went bad.

x2 If it happens a "few" more times. If not, no worries. My light came on a few times so I ended up changing the cap.

Hey Guys, I've been having the same problem... I have already changed the actual gas cap, and cleared the message and $40 bucks later the message is still coming back.. Could it be a sensor?

You might need to replace your EVAP check Valve. do you have a hard time turning on your car after you fill-up the tank?

I haven't had any similar issues since this one incident last week. I filled up my tank yesterday, and it started up normally with no issues. Maybe this was just a fluke.

Its a fluke....I had it happen about 5 laps into a track day session. Pulled off cap and put back on, no problems. Weird tho.

I had the same thing. Then while I was driving, the message went away but a CEL came up simultaneously. Hopefully the CEL will go away after a few starts of the engine. If not then it's off to the dealer with my 2months of warranty left.
