    034Motorsport X34 Cold Air Intake - for A4 2.8L V6??

Carbon Fiber cold air intake for your 30v V6???

For some reason like 5 people contacted me this week about running our 034Motorsport X34 Cold Air Intake on the 2.8L 30v V6. We make the X34 for the 2.7T B5 S4, but a lot of folks do not realize that our fiberglass or carbon fiber heat shield will "fit" in the V6 engine bay as well. It requires a little "love" to get in there, but it does fit and I've been running one on my own 30v 2.8L V6 for months and definitely noticed a good difference.

The only issue is the MAF housing, since the factory 30v V6 MAF housing bolts to the stock airbox so there is no provision to attach a cone filter. This requires an adapter plate, which we currently do not have time to produce.

So essentially I'd like to remind the far and few performance 30v V6 owners that this intake shield does work for you and certainly helps maximize what little power we have available, but I am also doing this to gauge if there was any level of interest in us producing an adapter plate. As of right now, you would have to figure it out on your own, but in the future this may be an option.

Sweet looks awesome might have to order me one even though I'm already running the BMG carbon cannister one.

    Thanks

$6 At any auto parts store that carries Spectre. Easy to turn into an adapter with just a drill bit to move some holes.

Nice! That looks like a good temporary solution. My only issue would be the strength; in order to make a proper seal with the MAF, the piece should be metal. But yes that is essentially what you would need.

That is the link to our retail pricing. If you are interested in one for your V6, shoot me a PM and I'll give you a new price. Nothing great, but anything helps right?

    this ain't a turbo motor!!! =)

I put down about 180whp with the custom tune. Its not so much of a big peak horsepower increase; more of an overall better curve, although over 6000rpm it really flies more then stock! The thing is, we probably won't ever offer an Over-The-Shelf version of the tune, since in order to extract all the performance you can from the AHA/ATQ, it needs to be done properly on the dyno, little bits grabbed here and there. And yeah, most folks don't want to spend the extra money for a custom dyno tune when they are only going to get 15whp. Bosch ME5 (drive by cable) is notoriously difficult to tune, especially when the car isn't on the dyno.

However, when you are trying to max out a less-then-mod-friendly motor like ours, 15whp is worth a lot haha.

What will be very interesting for me, is that I will be installing our 034EFI Stage IIc on the car, before going turbo. Since I have some baselines to go off of, it will be interesting to see if the wider flexibility of the standalone will allow a bit more power out of the motor naturally aspirated.
