    sound deadening in trunk

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I'm contemplating whether to pull the trigger on getting my trunk lined up to soak up some of the exhaust 2k drone, and while I'm at it upgrade the sound with a 10" sub. Anybody do this already? I'm looking at prices and they seem to be extremely varied, what should I be expecting for this kind of mod, and will it even make a difference? (The sound deadening)

    TIA

Looks like from that thread referenced above. People are putting insulation or Reflectix into the open area near the trunk light bulb and in the open areas of bare metal (eg spare tire well). They seem to be getting improved Bass from stock system and a lowering of the exhaust drone.

You should consider adding some type of closed cell foam product on top of the sound deadening you choose, it would probably combat the drone more effectively than just deadening alone I would think

I think this type of product is what your looking for. It should do a much better job at reducing drone/ exhaust noise than a sound deadening product will.

if you lift up your spare tire and tool kit you will see oem sound dampening on the sheet metal , audi knew there were vibrations from the stock exhaust. When adding an aftermarket free flowing exhaust you will run into more vibrations, i got some foam tape to deal with problem, i will probably add a layer of dynmat under the carboard trunk latch to kill the vibration going into the cabin.
