texture of plasti dip on grille?

hey guys i just plasti-diped my grill and it looks really good but it has a rough texture to it. i was wondering if any of you that have plastidiped their grill have a rough or smoothe finish and what can i do it make it have a smoothe finish?

I think you sprayed it from too far away. According to fonzie, our resident plastidip expert, the optimal distance from tip to surface is 6in. Too close and the coating will be blotchy. Too far and the coating will be rough.

so should i go over it with more plast dip or should i do the whole thing over?

plasti dip will always have a texture ... how rough it is all depends on your spraying skillzz... smooth is only from a vinyl wrap or satin type paint.

Never having done Plasti-Dip myself, my understanding from a multitude of posts here is that it can be 'peeled off' without much difficulty.
That said, I would recommend removing and trying again.

When applied, it should have the consistency of spray paint, but when it dries, it will have a bit of a rough texture like ultra fine sand paper.

Just rip it right off and do it again. Texture also depends on how many coats you put on.

plasti-dip is classified as a rubberized coating. it will have texture no matter what. how much depends on how you apply, but no, it will not be smooth and glossy like tremclad when you're done with it.
