    Euro Plate Installation

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I just ordered a euro plate and am curious how others have mounted them? I really didnt want to add the mount housing that most come with so I wanted to see if there was anywhere to get the european plate holder for our grille or how others have mounted the plate directly to the plate filler? I will post pics once I get the plate, but as a tease since I live in the north where we get quite a bit of snow and my car is Ibis in color my plate will say: Snow-Plow on a zollplate

If your Euro plate is like mine, you will need a mounting bracket because it does not have any holes in it. Then you will need to remove the license(US) plate filler or blank filler and underneath you will see a spot that will fit the Euro plate.

Sigh....get some torx and undo your front filler/plate panel there's a Europlate holder right underneath it built into the grill.

There is a slot for a European plate but you will still need to mount the plate or plate bracket somehow. I tried multiple brands of double sided tape and they all eventually fell off from heat. I just tapped into the grill splitter itself, which I would have had to do anyway to attach the plate frame. It looks a lot cleaner, IMO, than having a black frame that sticks out from the splitter. I used some euro colored caps for the screws and everything stayed in place and I wasn't worried about it falling off cruising down the autobahn.

I used adhesive tape for my europlate on my R32 and it never fell off or felt weak. I didnt use a holder I just taped the plate right on the grille.

I tried the same thing and I would come out and find the plate face down in front of my car on warm days. After that I decided I didn't want to worry about it while trying to do v-max runs down the autobahn so I went the hardware route.

Idk why you guys choose to put on those plates... people with states who requires front plates DREAM of not having a front plate, yet the ones that aren't required always wanna put some tacky shyt on. Stop posin, rock a plateless grille, car looks so much nicer and cleaner without one.

It wasn't a choice for all of us, required by German law in my case.

I don't think a car looks bad with a european plate... I have them on all my cars and all I get are complements around here. Here's mine:

I am absolutely agree with najjar22. I have also all my cars simply mounted with double side 3M tape and it is perfect!

When I was living in the UK, they delivered my car with double sided tape. It added a very clean look even though I had to have a front plate on the car.

Does that plate actually get a response from other drivers? I have long considered something similar due to the amount of people around here who think the left lane is there for them to put makeup on.

I always wonder if people move over because they read the plate or the LED lights intimidate them. Then again sometimes you get people that just love to drive in the left lane and won't budge no matter whet's coming up behind them.

I have a similar plate. It just says "3VOM". Takes some people a minute to get it, others are like "is 3VOM the company you work for" or something to that effect. haha It's a nive conversation starter and I know some folks hate front plates of any kind...but I personally like how it looks on a european car. my 2 pennies worth.

I've always liked euro plates on euro cars (saw a toyota corolla the other day with a german plate and almost crashed). I didn't know there was a spot for euro plates under the US plate filler, thank god for the search bar! I wanna repeat the plate I had on my b7. Used 3M double sided tape and that thing is notttt coming off after 3 years of South FL heat and highway driving.
