There are 4 sensors 2 in the grill and 2 in the bumper. Here is some bad pictures but will give you an idea. Note the car picture was before I got the proper grill holder.

You can just make out the sensor below the headlight washer. Of course my wonderful install keeps it looking factory.

The nice thing is, if your pulling up to something just push the parking button and it activates the display

This is great, well done David! I'd love having front sensors so I don't have to get out of the car to check how close I am to parking blocks and curbs.

Yeah get a module that supports graphics. Best thing to do is a start a thread asking for modules that are working with graphics. It's not an option on the A4 in North America so it will need to be a Euro. However the front and rear unit can be purchased from your local dealer. You can try an enable optical parking in module 10 before you buy anything though. You'll also have to enable optical in the camera module as well.

    Well done David!

Would you be so kind in posting the parking module part number you are using?

For those who are looking to add Graphic Display who have rear sensors only with camera, unfortunately it's hasn't been cracked yet. I've tried this long ago with VCDS and it doesn't seem to want to accept the coding. My guess is you would need a new module. It's been talked about in great length on audiforum.us in the MMI forum.

Once again David, amazing work. :)

What year cars have the people had who tried the graphic display? I'll give it a shot on my 2011. I was able to activate the double-beep when unlocking the car which saw on David's website which didn't work on his car.

Only some 8-channel modules (=front & rear sensors) are supporting the graphical display (except one single preseries 4-channel module reported with software X030 if I remember correctly).

Do you happen to know where the 'speed' parameter can be adjusted. Afaik it is only possible to activate it under 10km/h. Not a must but could help me a bit when i drive into the garage.
Also, do you mind to share what you changed beside the info that was availible? I mean, afaik you couldn't get it to work (both).
    It might help others.
Never the less, good job (wish i had the video interface module, i would of added reverse camera aswell).

Ill post the module revision later. I'm not sure which module I'm using right now. I have 2 that support the graphical so I need to confirm whats in the car now then swap and try the other.

I think most people here with the rear camera and PDC are probably on revision H. People have been trying to activate this for a few years now. Only a handful of people as TR mentioned had the correct module to do it. As far as the double beep goes I got it working. It ended up my software just wasn't accessing the channels. No problems now.

No, ACC not working yet. Need to get rid of component protection before I can move on. That may be a while yet.
The problem was caused by Stupidity. I'm not sure if I'm blaming myself or Audi at this point. No matter what though the problem would have solved itself in time (Like when my car is back together). I'll send you some details but it's nothing anyone else will need to worry about.

(In Jedi Voice) This is not the ADS switch your looking for...

It will be nice when sometime in the near future, every one of those buttons will function properly.

Like a lot of projects right now, they are held up by each other. I had to pull the car right apart and run all the wiring for every option imaginable (I think I'm done). Now I need to wrap the harnesses and make the connections. But I couldn't make the connections until the harnesses where done which couldn't be done until I was finished running wiring.. Always something and actually now that I think about it I still have to run some new wiring for my new seat controller for the passenger seat. Another project to see if I can get memory working on both sides of the car.

No project will move forward with write ups until the door lighting one is finished. That one is just killing me with all the little things to try and remember to pass along. There are so many variations.

There's no need to get into why it wasn't working yet. I'm saving that shame for later but it's not something you have to worry about. Nothing has to change from the standard parts that are needed. I have pretty well everything for a write up so when I get done the door pocket lighting I'll look at this one. It wont be as detailed as others though. I'll cover whats important but to get the bumper off people can search the forum for that stuff.

Ok so I have confirmed both modules here Revision E and Revision R work. R replaced about 4-5 modules all in one shot so I'm sure there are more. Indecently R is available from your local dealer. I can't remember exactly but I think I paid around $150 new from Genuinevwaudiparts.com Don't let genuine spook you though. If you put in part number 8K0919475R it will tell you parking W/O Camera. That is false, R is with camera. ETKA confirms it and so do I since it's in my car working with the camera.

Now I swear to nothing but R replaced C,E,G,J and M. I know E works but can't commit to the others. All of the listed modules do have the proper codes in ETKA though (Front and Rear with Camera).

I found the module I have, 8K0 919 475 T and When I go to Coding, I can check off Optical Illustration Active which changes the coding from 200103 to 300103 but then when I press Do It! I get an error of: "Coding Rejected Error 31 Request out of range". The other option is for Rear View Camera Installed and the weird thing is that the camera/sensor beeps seem to work wether this is checked off or not.

    Any thoughts?

If I'm reading this right, and by looking at your pics, if I already have the back-up camera already then I can either add the graphic display or disable the camera and go graphic only? I know it seems silly but I really, really don't care for the camera. Maybe if I had both it would be more useful but by itself I'm just not a fan of the camera.

David - Let me know if you need any scans of my mopdules or anything. I don't know if you saw my thread but being a US spec car in Germany but with certain things coded differently than a normal US spec car you might find something useful.

You can have both camera and graphical. If you look at the pictures the bottom right side allows you to change from graphical to camera and back again. That's how you switch between the two you pictures you see. Tired and can't think any more but I'd be interested a little on the changes you had done to your car and how your coding may be different. A few ideas for things for you to try and check.

In regards to coding rejected, it means the module isn't capable of it. Selecting camera has nothing to do with the beeping. It just controls if the camera is connected to the parking system.

Wow, I feel like a retard. I've NEVER noticed anything but the camera before. lol

Give me a holler and let me know what you'd like me to look and I'll hook it up.

David, where is the module located? Is there a module for rear graphic only or will the module that does both front and rear work if you just have the rear sensors and coded to deactivate the front sensor (so you don't get some sort of error)?

There is a thread in a Spanish forum that goes over this retrofit with some nice diagrams and part numbers.

You can't deactivate the front. The module is made for front and it's part of it's base coding. If any component is not plugged in the graphical wont work.. ask me how I know after 6 months of troubleshooting... The module is located on the right side of the trunk near the fuse panel. As Thorsten mentioned there is a module that will do rear graphics only but there is no way for me to know which one it is. Start a poll or thread and start getting people with graphical rear to post. You may have better luck on a Euro board than here though.

The one exception I mentioned was never intended to be sold; it's been a unique preseries module coming from a testcar.
NO WAY to have the graphical display without having front sensors and a suitable 8-chanel module installed.

Son of a...! That sucks...would have loved to have the rear graphics and would be an easy and pretty inexpensive upgrade it seemed. Doing the front...getting a whole new bumper (or did you use the same bumper?)...running the wires etc etc is a bit too much.

Noooooooo, no new bumper. Not needed. Maybe wait for the DIY. The holes are even marked on the inside of the bumper :)
