Cost of Oil change?

Hi,
How much do you think should be the cost of engine oil change for my 2008 audi A6 3.2 .
I contacted one shop and the person is telling me $120-130, is that reasonable?
anyone know a shop that can do it for less? I'm in Brooklyn NY.

buy ur own oil n do it urself for $50-60 or buy the oil n hav a shop do it for u $20-25

i can get the oil (5w40) and oil filter (Mann filter HU 722z) for about $75.
Do you know of any other place where I can get them for cheaper price?

I'm in Brooklyn NY and first of all it's hard to find 5w40 grade oil... second its expensive.
I don't know where else to look...

The local dealer here charges about $125. You need 6-7 quarts of oil which meets VW502.00 at about $7.50/qt + filter for another $15 so $65-$70 in parts. Then add in 1/2 of labor (Another $62.50 in Connecticut) and you are at $125. When you look at it that way it is not unreasonable, it just can't be done at Jiffy lube with Dino oil for $29.95.

Unless you plan on stealing it, I don't see how your going to get any cheaper then $75 for a decent quality supplies for a DIY oil change.

Remember you did buy an Audi!

i do it myself, its so easy and you know that you didn't over tighten the drain bolt and also not have to worry that it was stripped in any way....

Long Beach Circle Audi in CA sent me a oil filter change special for $69.99....so what that tells me is that when they $200 for a standard non-special oil change they are really gouging their customers....?!

Exactly what I was thinking. $120 including oil and filter isn't too crazy. You can do it yourself for half that, of course...but what's your time and the hassle of jacking up the car/getting dirty/disposing of used oil worth?

i paid $130 at the Audi dealership about 2 months ago for my '07 S6. the receipt showed the labor was $3.13...definitely not worth my time to DIY.

I realize you're in an A6, but your estimate sounds about right.

I got oil change discount coupon from dealer website and facebook site all the time.
The oil change for 6 cyclinder is always $70-$75 while regular price is $95 at Ira Audi in MA
