New Window Regulator installed and rolls up slow with strain? Any Ideas?

I just installed a new window regulator on the driver side door and now it is rolling up really slow with strain on the motor any ideas on how to fix this slow roll up and to relieve the strain on motor? Didn't know if anyone else has had the same problem? I am thinking about taking it all apart again and putting some silicon spray and some lube on the tracks to see if that helps.

^x2...I always look for 'score' marks left from where the bolts/screws were located and try and match them back as best as possible.

Yeah, if the glass is misaligned in the track, or the window lifter is not installed right, the glass will bind in the lifter track. There are a lot of details involved with this job, that are described in the Bentley for proper R&R, and adjustment of the glass and lifter. You can buy a 1 day subscription to the factory service manual and print out as much as you want, from Audi Erwin website for a reasonable cost.

Really odd, went to work yesterday and read about resetting the pinch protection limit and went out to my car and did that and now the window works fine. I dont know if that solved the problem or maybe me shutting the door adjusted the window into place. Thanks for all your help, but tonight I have to take the door panel off and put the sound deadening material back on, I left it off because the window was not working properly and I thought I would have to get back into the door and didn't want to take that stuff off again. Here is the link I read about resetting the switch may be some help for other people http://www.audizine.com/forum/showth...l-problem-here. Thanks again for all the input.

i just installed the $46 VDO regulator from Amazon over the weekend. it is going up very slow and is so strained - it wont go all the way up.
i just replaced the window regulator 2 years ago - so i am familiar with the task. last time i bought the part from world impex and it went in very easily and worked great - unfortunately it only lasted 2 years.

i took it apart, checked everything, lubricated it, and carefully re-installed it and it is still tight. without the window attached, the glides slide reasonable well. but it is difficult to get the window on the glides. something seems a bit off, which i am guessing is causing it to bind.

i am not sure if there is something i can do to remedy this or if i should try to return the amazon part and get one from ECSTuning or other source.

I had the same issue with the VDO window regulator. The clips on the regulator that attaches to the bottom of the glass did not line up properly. I forced it to fit and the widow would bind like crazy and it would never really go up or down. The vendor I bought it from admitted that there were issues with the VDO regulator. Maybe VDO sent out a bad batch? I returned it for a full refund and purchased a new OEM regulator from Genuine Auid Parts and the window rolls up and down like it should.

I compared the VDO regulator and the busted regulator and you could see the clips were off by maybe a 1/4" to 3/8".
