S-line steering wheel badge replacement. How?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
How do I remove the S-line badge in my steering wheel to replace it? How is it affixed? BTW, my wheel has the badge directly recessed into the leather, rather than one of the newer models which has a plastic surround (such as the newer TT wheels, for example).

I didn't see this issue addressed with a few searches, so I appreciate the feedback.

Good question, have you found a replacement badge?

I know where I can get one (ebay, etc.), but I don't want to put the cart in front of the horse if it ruins the wheel when trying to remove it (ie. if it's glued into the leather, etc.).

I have no idea and haven't ever seen a thread addressing that issue. My USP has the same badge recessed into the leather. It must just be glued or cliped on.

They are clipped on. I don't know how to remove it without leaving a mark though, sorry.

Take a screwdriver and pry it on one of the edges. It's really easy to take off.... And it shouldn't leave any marks of any sort.

I know, right? Gotta love ECS. $52 from GAP and probably $2 to ship.

true, but that doesn't make ECS charging almost 40% more than another site any less ridiculous.

Which is of course why other vendors are selling it for 15 bucks. I emailed them to confirm, and they stated their parts are genuine Audi.

Was curious about this also, as my badge is a bit worn. But $13 shipping for a dinky little badge??!?

Yeah, but it's still way cheaper than the other options out there. I think they are drop-shipped from foreign lands. I'll post up here when I get mine and let you know if it's a POS, or the real-deal-Holyfield.

Yeah, mine took forever and a day to arrive too, but eventually it did. The seller was very good about keeping in contact too.

BTW, Kittrell, how did yours come off, and how difficult? I have an S5 wheel that I have to get the S5 badge off to replace with this one, but I don't want to screw up the wheel.

It came out real easy, just used my multi-tool. Push in on the tabs from each side, I did the right, and it popped up, then did the left, and it popped out. Easy breezy, it's like a 30 second job.

As a side note, Nexon Motors was great to work with. They did not have any auctions up for the S-line badge. So they just had me buy an S5 badge and they shipped me the S-line one instead, no trouble at all. That thing got to me in 5 days from Turkey. I have stuff come from Jersey that takes two weeks.

I used a micro Phillips Screwdriver. Here's my quick DIY video from when I did the removal/install. Hope this is helpful.

    Avantacular-

Thank you for posting that. Funny that I asked this for my A4 5+ years ago for a different wheel I never ended up installing. Turns out my new(er) S4 has a worn S4 badge that I have the replacement for but have not installed because I was worried I'd screw something up installing it. Considering it looks so easy having now seen it, I might grow some balls. Thanks again.
