    Auto Headlight Leveling Light?

Anyone know the correct term for this display light, and how do I get rid of it? Will VagCom do it?

Not 100% sure how to make the light go away but I do know how to make the headlights re-level. Turn the headlights on with the key in the ignition and the car off and then start the car. The lights should then point down and left and re-level themselves. Might make the light go away, might not.

It's a dipped headlight error. Meaning low beam. So either your bulb is out or there's an issue with the headlights. You have to erase the fault code in Vagcom

Check the driver's side lower front control arm to see if the level sensor arm is still attached and not broken. There is one on the driver's side rear as well.

I just went through this last summer. Codes showed my front sensor had failed and the whole headlight assembly needed to be replaced. I had the codes cleared a few times and they came back. I could not detect any movement out of the headlight (e.g., turning the lights on when facing the garage door) and no difference in brightness or direction when driving. So I pulled fuse #10 and the error icon goes away.

Had the same light come on; did you have any work done on the car?

The sensor on my front drivers side had come apart when the CV boots replaced.

I got this car wrecked, and I rebuilt it and the motor myself. I replaced the whole passenger headlight during that process as well.

You may want to remove the wheels and look to see if the sensos are conected. If there was front end damage I would start with the front drivers side wheel and look for the sensor.

Having the same issue as well, did the brakes recently and noticed that the level sensor where it attaches to the lower control arm has moved from it's original position between the two indents forged into the control arm. I persuaded it back into position but it didnt want to rest in that position, so i was wondering, does it or would it make a difference to have the suspension under load (on ramps vs jacking), to put the sensor in the right position, or is there something else i have overlooked.

I wouldn't think that it would make any difference if the wheels loaded or unloaded; I had mine unloaded with a jack so I could remove the wheels, just make sure that the clip that wraps around the control arm is facing the right way. You do have to drive a good number of miles before the sensor resets and the light goes off.

My problem is I don't have the stock tire bar.

My torque wrench was reading almost 140 lbs before my reducer broke. Those lugs are pretty tight. I need to change my tires soon anyways so when I go to change them I'ma take a peak to see if the sensors are on correctly once the shop get my tires off for me lol.

Also when you have the tires change, make sure to tell the tire monkey's not to use impact gun's on your lugnutz. This is possibly when you are having such a hell of a time. Also, Don't use the T-wrench to remove bolts, I've been told it can screw the t-wrench up. I've never done that anyway, but it's what I've heard.

Get yourself a nice 1/2 socket set & breaker bar. Shouldn't set ya back much.

If you're lucky they'll be on ebay; I've gotten them from a part-out before. Not sure if Audi stocks them and then how much they would charge.

I am also trying to make that light go away. My '05 S4 has aftermarket lights and I think it's been lowered (none of that done by me). My front and rear sensors are not broken and appear to be hooked up properly. My auto-leveling does not work and wasn't working when I bought the car a couple years ago. I'm fine with how my headlights are without the auto-leveling, but I sure wish I could get that idiot light to go out. I was hoping someone would know some simple wiring to do that would trick the computer into thinking everything was fine. Any ideas?

I'm going to be going this route, because my headlights are aimed straight at the pavement in front of the car every time I turn them on right now as well. http://forums.quattroworld.com/allroad/msgs/45450.phtml
